the people on your news feed are the people who check your page the most

just some insider information...

edit

ok its not insider

don't want to spread my paranoia.

yeah, that sounds unlikely. i don't even know half the people on my newsfeed, or at least haven't talked to them in 5+ years. the newsfeed thing seems kind of unnecessary to me all together.

but either way, who gives a fuck what they look at?

people who moan about facebook being crap presumably are unaware that such a situation as this could exist. also, they should just get of facebook instead of perpetually moaning about it.

good god, shut the fuck up connor. delete your facebook (and your wattem) and take a bat to your computer. do it in public so everyone can see your discontent.

I have realised the error of my ways. There is no aspect of facebook I dislike. I did not realise you could contact people far away, and criticism does of course equate to taking a bat to something.

So I would like to withdraw my 4 points.

facebook....

i hate seeing all those people's pictures staring at me. i don't like thinking about people visiting my page. i nearly never venture out past my own page for fear of people knowing i'm looking at their pages.

They had this app that people could tell who was visiting their pages the most. I didnt go on anyones page for ages until i realised that the app's full of shit and is just a random list generator.

Insider Info, ::tinfoil hat time::

Most of those apps you sign up for you must grant access to all of you personal data, this data is then bought and sold a dozen times over again through data aquisition companies as leads. No conspiracy... no paranoia... I work with some of these guys directly. They will create groups and apps on facebook, collect data, package up 100,000 records and send them off to telemarketer teams and mail houses.

ive always though the 'do you allow this app access to all of your profile information' thing seemed seriously sinister.

i hate facebook even more than Conor74 does. i mean it.

I'm being painted into a corner. I don't hate it. I hate lots of people on it. People who ponder about their description, people who join Cheryl Cole fansites, people who set up sites and stick some name on some page to get you to look but then expect you to sign up to get the info, people who use it for inane banter.

On the other hand, it has been useful. Met a friend I had last seen 23 years ago on it. Also have been in contact with a few I haven't seen since I left secondary scool back in '92. At least quarter of my contacts are people who worked here during the boom and have gone back to central Europe, so it was nice to get up to speed with them too.

i dont see what you miserable old cunts dislike so much about people chatting shite with people that they like. i know too many people to meet all of them every night, its nice to just come online and blab some random crap with a hot girl from college who i probably wont be seeing until the weekend. the fan pages are annoying, but thats about it.

I can't speak for others but I am getting to an age where I am entitled to be grumpy and not have to explain myself.

There now, I've wet myself again.

you need less people in your life.

when i was at uni, i could see the point of it - i'd get invites to house parties, club nights, etc., and i've invite my mates, and so on. i was a club rep, and it was a much easier way of selling tickets and publicising events. i met a lot of people at uni, and ended up with about 550 people on facebook.

now i've graduated, i've only been bothered to stay in contact with 20-30 good friends, who i see every couple of weeks or so. they're all on my phone. i call them, they call me. so facebook's become moribund in my social life. it's just full of people who i don't give a shit about, posting balale pointless comments about their cats or their courseworks or their farmville, etc.

fucking facebook almost ruined my relationship.

Yeah that happens more often than not.

Facebook has some great pros and disastrous cons.

I try to avoid looking at the page of the person i'm seeing.
