I WILL PAY MANY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR ANYTHING THATLOOKS LIKE MINIMOOG KTHX

:facepalm:

Saying that I want something is not the same as me buying it. Way to fail.

Soooooooooo. The new electribes are the exact same thing but have 32gb of memory now with SD cards. Nice. Good enough for now. At least Korg is admitting they still know what the electribes are after many years of silence. Plzzzzzz I hope they make next gen electribes.

I don't know, I think it looks pretty fucking awesome. The demo is pretty wanky, but c'mon guys, its fucking electron making a fucking sampler, of course it is going to be awesome.

lol at people talking trash about instruments they've never used themselves.

oh yeah, this is watmm. i forgot where i was

Haven't had one in my possession so I haven't "used it," but I can certainly form an opinion based around all that I've listened to.

It seems as if every time I've heard the monomachine or machinedrum it has sounded like death, which encourages me to try out something else at the music store.

You seem very fond of them so if I run into one again I'll be sure to give it a good tweaking.

it's not that i seem fond of them, but at least my opinion is based on my own experiences owning one.

the killer feature of elektron machines is the sequencer.

Looks like the new elektron is a sampler w/8track sequencer?

eeek, seems like a highly disappointing machine.

i just think the last thing we need is something hardware that's trying to be abelton. The beautiful thing about Elektron's two main products is that they stand apart from almost everyone else's priorities right now. NO ONE is making new drum synthesizer groove boxes or extremely easy to use and powerful hardware sequencers/arps

elektron troll?

Nice to meet you.

I'm encym

sorry, but when i see a new member w/ only a few posts, and most of those are duplicate posts that appear to be promoting a product... i have to be suspicious.

No worries, I would be suspicious too. I'm actually not so excited about this new machine, but have been wanting to get a Machinedrum for a long time, and I felt I could exchange experiences with users and musicians on this board.

yeah I can certainly see a lot of people that will make good use out of it. Especially if the workflow is good, which I assume it will be for elektron. I have no interest in it but hopefully it's a step in a good direction for them to release some more products. They are kinda like Waldorf though, always have huge price tags. Granted they are great machines, sometimes it just seems like their machines are priced totally wrong for the market they seem to be trying to appeal to.

Here's what Elektron have to say...

The Octatrack is designed to revolutionize the concept of sampling. Recording sounds is a breeze thanks to the intuitive user interface, but the fun really starts once the samples are inside the machine. Loops are now completely elastic. Cut up and rearrange them in real time. They will always stay in sync no matter if they are pitch shifted or if the tempo of the sequencer is changed. Single sounds can be moulded into any shape or form. The static nature of samples is finally a thing of the past.

The Compact Flash card allows for huge amounts of samples to be constantly accessible. The USB port is ideal when transfering sample libraries between your computer and the Octatrack. The optical fader can be assigned to any of the parameters, adding a wealth of live control possibilities.

Specifications

* 8 stereo tracks

* 4 audio inputs

* 4 audio outputs

* Separate Headphone Output

* USB 2.0 port

* Compact Flash Card Reader

* Optical Fader

* Improved Elektron Sequencer

* Realtime pitch shift and time stretch

* Real Time Sampling

* 2 Effect blocks per track

Every track being stereo seems pretty win to me. And 4 outputs, I guessed I missed some. Realtime pitch shift and time stretch is great imo. As well as realtime sampling if you don't have to stop the sequencer.

Elektron +Drive

+DRIVE

The +Drive gives a significant boost to the Machinedrum and Monomachine storage capabilities. Everything is basically multiplied with a factor of 128. Thousands of patterns, sounds and songs can be stored internally and more or less instantly recalled. The Machinedrum SPS1-UW+ MKII can now host over 6000 samples. The Monomachine SFX-60+ MKII can be loaded with more than 8000 user waveforms.

This is the first product they've released since he died...

And re: Moog... the Moog guitar is "quite good". As is the midi murf. =D

Indeed!

From a messe report from a synth forum user that went:

What is it? It's actually really clever - a custom sequencer running on a stripped down Windows XP and a powerful set of guts (Intel Core 2 at 3 GHz) and a 24" screen partially covered by the UI, with an RME audio interface inside.

Unlike a Receptor, this means all your plugins just run the way they're supposed to and don't have to be made compatible. It's got a sort of mapper built in for VST parameters - so sort of like how Ableton creates a bunch of sliders for all parameters, this does the same and you can immediately access them by means of the row of rotaries and a matrix. This is the x0x-counterpart to the more MPC-like OpenLabs solution.
