Nostalgia isn't as good as it used to be.

@joshuatx I still have vivid memories of dreams I had years ago, and yet none about my daily life from the same period. weird as fuck. I'll never forget my first (and only) proper lucid dream. It was like being in the Matrix.

So does she HAVE nostalgia and then dislikes that fact or does she just not experience it and doesn't understand people who do?

And yeah I agree, can't live without it.

yeah she experiences it but dislikes the connection to the past, puts her in disarray.. I think it reminds her of pretty things in the past that hurt to think about, but I think that can be a beautiful thing with the right perspective.

I see. I had a good enough past to where I just mostly remember the good things from before. I do kinda miss when everything was interesting when you're a kid. But then again maybe that's selective memory.

I guess  it depends on what you're being nostalgic about. If you miss high school (for some odd reason) yeah there's that. But if it's a piece of media or something you can easily relive it.

Though I suppose part of the nostalgia isn't about the media but how it felt when it was new.

Another weird feature of nostalgia is how much you can enjoy certain things from when you were younger, but if you came across it now it would never appeal to you at all. I still like lots of old music from when I was in my early teens, but I know I'd think it was bad these days... some of it pretty boring or basic.

Add family holidays, dodgy jumpers worn by Irish uncles, sectarian terrorism, mushroom/acid/e comedowns, working knees, sanity, crow black hair, buying records in shops where the cunts would only let you sift through 8 or so @ a time (you want my fkn money or not?), going out on the pull, getting drunk actually fuck that alcohol is shiiiite, house-sharing w/psychopaths, Cabaret Voltaire, acid house, certain parts of northern England, Factory Records, hearing LFO for the first time...

Glue sniffers, shit as fuck BBC Micro-computer games, finding random porn mags in woodlands, football violence, shit cars, shit run-down British coastal "resorts", three tv channels, free Mogadon & Temazepam tranqs stolen by a mate from his own junky Mum, pub after hours lock-ins, shagging kinky English ex-public school girl types, spare time, Goldeneye multiplayer N64 all nighters where no cunt could go Oddjob (height matters), Age of Empires LAN sessions @ a mate's home office, certain drugs being fun as opposed to extremely hard work orientating on to the point of pointlessness these days, mornings being my own & stress free

the latter is completely irrevocable & prob holds the most actual nostalgia, don't breed folks

finding random porn mags in woodlands,

You should listen to our newest podcast ep. I bought up my buried in the corner of a park porn mag collection. It's also hipster house themed :^)

What's funny was that I was thinking about them when writing that post. Though I wouldn't say they're bad at all. They're decent. I like Maynard other band A Perfect Circle more. I really like Thirteenth Step since it was an influence during my teens. However their newest album I didn't care for. I'd probably like it if it had came out back then.

There are also some shows like this. Walking Dead comes to mind since the first season came out in my early teens. Also the anime Dragonball z from when I was a kid, which I know if I saw it today I'd think it was horrible.

Ive thought about dumping porn in the woods so someone like 10 year old me could find it in the exact way i did, unfortunately i dont have any porn that is physical media and the only place I know where it would work is the exact place I found my porn at a young age - which is thousands of miles away from me now.

It made me smile to see kids coming out of those same woods when i visited my parents place in december 2018

They say every boy who enters that forest comes out a man.
