Essines has, and always will remind me of MacReady.

carl sagan is cool. someone give me like 5 reasons why he's IDM and not just a really cool guy.

He was fascinated with the cosmos and was a devoted, friendly teacher and sharer of his information.

Ulillillia is obsessed with technology, manipulates it for his own personal selfish gain, and frequently crosses the line between reality and a reality based in a computerized video game version of his mind.

I think it's clear which one is more IDM.

plus the whole "flahbub clause"

Does this count? I'm pretty sure Carl Sagan is IDM for all the reasons you listed. I don't think I'm the only one that thinks space and astronomy are pretty IDM...

Though I don't have any idea who or what Ulillillia is.

ehhhh i guess that could be alright, but it's WAY too far down the boc-arsehole to be a real contender.

and boc is only one black bean skin in the epic pile of shit that is IDM anyway.

plus he didn't make that song.

plus while space is IDM, teach kids about space, while admirable and awesome; not IDM

i'm guessing the fact it's available on a single-sided 7" with the voyager plaque on the other side is not helping proceedings

Yeah, I know he didn't make it, but still...

Also, I'll be frank and say I really do like Benn Jordan's tribute to Carl Sagan album. It's pretty.

sagan's vision of the universe is not pretty. it's vast expanses of nothing, punctuated by the very occasional planetary system, which has maybe a molten planet, a gas giant, or an advanced earth-like civilisation which has nuked itself into oblivion.

and that, my friend, is also known as IDM.

I meant the album sounds pretty. >_> The universe is a vast expanse of nothing. So, does that make IDM nothing? :cisfor:

it would be more accurate to say that the limit of IDM(k) approaches nothing as k approaches infinity

Guest 277: 930-933

Choices in this round were so easy, it's like choosing life or death.

Last one was sort of a lesser of two evils sort of thing though.

People who don't see how Carl Sagan is more IDM than Ulililillia clearly need to be educated.

Would like to see how Asimov performs in a next tournament...

Ulillillia vs Sagan is a bastard choice, because I'd happily vote for both of them if they were up against other opponents. But as much as I'd like everyone's favourite shut-in manchild to win, there's no shame in losing to Big Carl. I'm hoping for a late surge in votes for Uli though.
