MYST

I never really played these when I was younger because some of my friends had it and it seemed fucking tougher than nails... I downloaded Riven today in response to this thread, and man I have NO IDEA wtf I'm doing or where to go. I dunno if I'm even going to bother. Granted I only gave it 15 min. I'll try more later.

yeah if you don't have a lot of patience with these kind of games it's really not worth it. you actually HAVE to sit at your computer and read the ENTIRE journal. It takes a looooong time to understand what's really going on in Riven.

the thing about this game is that it was released the same year as Doom... if you got bored or frustrated you could just switch it off and go to the other extreme of mindless violent indulgences

not exactly mindless that could have a negative connotation.. as a straight up fps does require some level of hand-eye coordination just more reflexive then cognitive puzzle solving, decision making etcetera

I reckon I'm going to smoke some herb and give 'er a go, notebook in hand, perspective being that of the game's protagonist. May change my thought process a bit.

I have been watching these walkthrough videos and i find them very relaxing.

I never liked to play Myst games but i really like the atmosphere that they have.
