sneaksta303
Ya I usually don't start stupid threads saying "this or that track needs its own thread blah blah blah etc etc etc" BUT man, what a great fucking intro. I don't think at any other point in the album does it reach a more epic point than the 1st 2 min of the album. That slow creep up is amazing. A week ago today I did dxm for the 1st time in forever (eh, a year maybe), and with my goonish wigger roommate who had never done it before. I put on milkdrop visuals on winamp and played it for him and after it was over he was like, "i finally understand how you can listen to that shit now, no i don't mean it's shit oh man you know what I mean right?" Good experience. Best track on Oversteps for me, although that is subject to change. As it stands I'm only a half assed fan of this album, but there are some really great moments. Lianne
This track is good, but it's definitely not the most interesting to me on Oversteps, nor is it anywhere near as good as most of their other openers (mainly because they've done so many other great ones. Cipater? Acroyear2? Dael? etc. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/54973-r-ess/#findComment-1287753 Share on other sites

xyrofen
Autechre seems to always have a great opener track and this is no exception. I love the way the percussion kind of cycles, so to speak. How it goes, then the next ones cuts the last hit, then it goes normally again, then the last hit cuts, so on. The way the synth comes in on the left channel and reverberates through the right channel is something I absolutely love. I get drawn back to Autechre so often because I love reverberation effects, so it's like a gimmick that gets me all the time, but they do it so incredibly well and in ways that are probably impossible to recreate with an actual space. Fucking love r ess. Guest iamabe
altibzz is killer, and so is r ess. what makes r ess for me is when the vocals rise and then all the reverb tails are cut hard and the vocal hits a low note. the editing is awesome.
