Man it really is an amazing little track (Although the drum loop lets it down somewhat). If they slightly altered the drums to something slightly less repetitive it would be one of the finest BoC tracks ever created. So much emotion contained in such a little track.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

My favorite BoC track, along with Kid For Today. It is so fragile and perfect I don't listen to it much, for fear of spoiling the effect. I've heard other people talk about what song they'd want played at their funeral, well, this is mine. It is simply beyond words. Too bad they don't make tracks like this anymore. It always makes me wonder what other perfect tracks might be hidden in hooper bay, acid memories, closes, etc. I bet there are a couple.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

i once started a thread about the first 0:46 of that track ... that beginning wobbly synth is like quintessential uber-beautiful BoC. i always picture a sunrise, during winter, when i hear that

yeah.. this is so what makes BOC great. it's simple, yet complex and has several layers of meaning.. it just sets off so many memories for me.. being outside all day playing as a kid, in the middle of summer, and at the end of the day when it begins getting colder and the sky turns orange. what i feel BOC brings me back to the most are those really short timeless moments, when you for instance stopped and looked at the sky or the sun, felt the wind..

seeing the sun like this, this is soo BOC: http://www.atpm.com/6.08/konstanz/images/sunset.jpg

as a little kid i lived in the southern parts of sweden where it was slightly rural.. was outside in nature alot, and the summerdays are just so beautful near the sea there. lots of little islands and shit, with old bunkers and stuff on them too.

it reminds me of AMIGA's and early tape recorders that my brothers recorded stuff with, old equipment.. the 90's just began when i was little, i don't know why but i seriously love old looking electronic equipment like tape players.. the "futuristic" design back then, the stuff you saw in science magazines.. that orange color of japanese robots for instance.

what i don't understand is how BOC can affect you so damn much.

i often wonder this ... like how do they know to tune the synths just right, so it hits all sort of eidetic childhood overwhelming nostalgia beauty-ness

Everything you do is a balloon's melodic beginning makes me feel this way too. Kid For Today's melodic tone as well.

I like listening to BoC music while being tired. I feel druggy, sleepy and underwatered.

This is such an amazing track, I know a few of the purists look down on people for getting 'Old Tunes' as BoC never meant for it to be heard by the public but it would be awful for a fan to never hear this. Gorgeous.

"They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Monsters from the future. Explosions. Sylvester Stallone doing a backflip on top of a spike while Robocop carries a ghost up a mountain. Bombs and swords and that... IDM is awesome."

Unreleased. On "A Few Old Tunes" and used in a Telecom Italia ad.

A Few Old Tunes side B - but it's not part of the Telecom Italia ad.

It's on the Nissan ad apparently. I haven't seen that one though...

It's at the end of the Chris Cunningham viddy. Used well, but not to full effect.

Yep, it was the Nissan commercial. Mixed those two up.

You're both wrong - The Telecom Italia commercial (called "quiet") does not feature 5-9-78, but another unreleased BoC track altogether.

I've attached both for comparison :wink2:

Oh, sorry - I thought I read where somebody was saying something different as well.

Glad you like the 256 VBR one - it came from my original cassette

someone needs to make an mp3 of the track from the telecom add. its great.

it sounds like a combination of tracks to me. anyone here the Numbers transmission at the end? "5, 7". that's the same one that's used in Gyroscope i think.

they sample themselves so much that it shouldn't be a surprise that some of this stuff sounds familiar. MHTRTC is fully of tiny bits of the old tunes.
