Agreed on 5 - 9 - 78. Awesome track. I just wish I didn't have to listen to it in MP3 format. :(

In ref to the telecom add, isn't the music used basically the same as a track from one of the live sets? I seem to remember it.

Wonderful track, and a lovely ad as well. why can't all adverts be like that, I'd actually want to watch them then.

the 5-9-78 is one of a few songs from the old tunes shiznitz that i NEED to have released on CD remastered and re-polished...it's absolutley sublime in it's beauty...

I can't help but wonder if the old tunes leaks originally came from the tapes that BoC gave Cunningham for the commercials.

No, they did not. BoC knows who leaked the Old Tunes tapes, so that's been taken care of, even though the damage is done.

if you reverse every second track on TCH and slow them down 66.6% and piece them together from the last track to the first, you can actually hear when the culprit is burnt alive in one of those fullmoon bonfire gathering....true story

Yeah, the damage is done: fans got to savor some of BoC's best work, that otherwise might not have seen the light of day.

Normally I feel dismayed when I hear that an artist's upcoming album was leaked, especially if it was in an unfinished state. But with BoC's back-catalogue, I don't see any compelling reason to keep it hidden away from fans. Of course they should be able to do what they like, but if more leaks, I won't feel sorry for BoC. I'll just enjoy the tunes.

sorry, but whenever i hear someone say that the Old Tunes are "some of BoC's best work," i puke in my mouth a little bit. i mean, are you fucking serious? yes, there are some decent tracks scattered about. but a lot of that stuff is not releasable. maybe people feel like they appear as an elitist with a special ear when they make these statements? i don't know, but it's fucking silly.

LOL Alzado, when you first appeared on WATMM, I thought you were rather lol, but then I realized you're often cranky, and not in the charming way that Kaen is.

It's a matter of taste. I'm not an elitist, I genuinely like the "old tunes" cassettes. I think there are more interesting sonic ideas on them than on TCH, for example. To put it in the crudest terms, I find 5-9-79, Sequoia, I Will have it Tattooed, Buckie High etc. to be as good as, or better than, the best tracks on TCH. I'll agree their sound isn't as polished yet, and a handful of tracks are weak, but "not releasable"? I think it's all releasable. Hopefully in a boxed set.
