Well I wasn't a fan of Primer... I'm not smart enough for it.

If you liked Genious party (did you see both volumes? Dimension Bomb is from Genious Party Beyond which is the second one. I liked the first one more to be honest but it's less experimental and weird so maybe not what you're after...) then obviously there's the other Studio 4c stuff. I assume you've seen Mind Game (if you haven't... then... ) but have you seen some of their more obscure short films like Noiseman Sound Insect (I swear there's an Aphex Twin sample in it...)? You might like Eternal Family as well.

Also there's another short film omnibus (3 half hour shorts) called Memories which is worth checking out, and another one called Neo-Tokyo, which also has 3 shorts (they're only about 15 minutes each tho)... the first of these shorts is an AMAZING piece of abstract cinema, one of my favourite films. The other two are pretty meh.

I've yet to see it but Robot Carnival is another collection of short films all about robots which is supposed to be very good.

And finally Cat Soup is kind of interesting, very strange abstract short, about half an hour long. Defenitely worth checking it out if you like Genious Party.

Also, agreed, Triangle was surprisingly entertaining for a netflix instant queue whim. Not as good as Primer, but maybe that's because I don't understand WTF is going on in Primer even with the diagram and multiple viewings.

Oh yeah, think I may have miscommunicated - by shit movies I mean movies other than the ones I listed - like, I don't know, Thankskilling or American Pie goes to The Parthenon or some shit. Same with TV - they have like every season of "King of the Hill" and Hanna Montana, but then they also have awesome shit like Arrested Development, Dexter, Firefly, etc.

Upstream Color was excellent.  This guy should make more movies.  

absolutely! also i just read back and realise timecrimes was already suggested so my bad.

he worked on the editing of this film, and I really feel like it's got a similar pace and feel to upstream colour.

the fact that he hasn't got to direct anything else substantial though is a big fact pile of shit.
