Couldn't find the official thread in search, but here are some caps... from reviews the color and clarity is apparently better then in 3D... best CG ever as far as I'm concerned

It still looks like a videogame to me.

And those are still the worst designs I've ever seen. They didn't grow one me, instead I dislike them more and more every time I see them.

But to each their own I guess... I hope you keep this thread alive for a while cos the old one actually lead to some interesting, civilized debates.

the computer screens were awesome to look at with Imax 3d..

Springy: could you post an example of your designs so we can see how much better they are?

those screenshots still look CG, to my eyes. It's okay CG, but from what i saw from the trailers and what i see in screenshots, it isn't as fantastic as is being made out by some people.

regardless of the revolution in CG this film is, or isn't, i refuse to watch it and will continue to refuse to watch it because of the ridiculous amount of hype whipped up for this film, and because of people like this

looks like james cameron is into anime and japanese rpgs and picked the things he liked and put them together into an avatar salad

I had the impression too after watching it 4 times

only the scenes with 1-2 people at the same time look like nothing I have seen before

when they add more people and vehicles they are not able to render enough details to perfect the illusion because hardware is limited

but you seem to be confusing "successful" with "good". they do not necessarily correlate.

Anything popular or even most cult classics have extremely annoying fans... I guess I can understand criticism for Avatar, well I mean I do, its obvious what its flaws are... however for a film like Avatar I really don't mind its flaws cause I enjoy mindless popcorn/action films... I also enjoy kid movies a good amount... they stimulate me in a different way... So yeah, I loved the movie and look forward to the sequel which Cameron has said he wants it to take place more in the oceans of Pandora... so Abyss 2 basically...

Also regardless of the story/film the tech Cameron has invented over the years advance filmmaking in general, so for example Spielberg is coming out with Tin Tin this year and he used the same tech that was used on Avatar. Spielberg has said the tech allowed him to compose and paint with the camera like never before and really capture the original artwork of the series.

nah, i know the difference quite well. but, i also see the difference between appreciating something for what it is and being a hater because it was successful. i'm not sure how you came to that conclusion, honestly. but, my intellect usually astounds people at first so i'll let you guys absorb it.
