Lil Wayne - I Feel Like Dying

I don't know enough about Lil Wayne to make a judgement either way. I would like, however, to listen to some of his albums, starting with the oldest, before I dismiss him.

However, this song is sick:

The Flying Lotus remix:

The fact that Wayne was openly addicted to codeine raises him in my books, as does this song. Also, I learned in reading the lyrics that he name-drops Xanax in this one as well.

I think it's a great song.

i don't see the appeal in lil wayne. at first I thought it was some ironic joke, as if it was sort of cool to be listening to something so awful but now I just think people have nothing better to listen to.

the only lil wayne track i really like is a milli

it's not all that awful. he has a lot of talent lyrically and rhythmically. "a milli" is his best in my opinion.

this part is so tripped out and brilliant i love it:

my criteria compared to your career just isn't fair

i'm a venereal disease like a menstrual bleed

threw the pencil and leak the sheet of tablet in my mind

cuz i don't write shit cuz i ain't got time

cuz my seconds, minutes, hours go to all the mighty dollar

and the all mighty power of dat chit cha cha chopper

if that isn't poetry then ... i don't know. i barely know much of his music, most people tell me his old stuff is great compared to the new stuff which they say is terrible. personally "a milli" is my favorite wayne. it's just too perfect - like "hey ya" or "crazy" or any number of beatles songs etc.

also a lot of it has to do with his personality, he's a very likable and entertaining rock-star fame person for us to talk about

+1

yeah who is more entertaining, lil wayne or kanye

kayne does all that ridiculous on stage shenanigans and wayne is a DXM addict and is a sort of creative/business genius, i think

i vote wayne but that might just be because kayne has been out of the spotlight for some time

I am from Louisiana, so i have been around Lil Wayne since '96-on, and he was much, much better in his earlier years. 2004 was his peak with the first Carter album, everything after that is mainstream garbage.

listen to this (if you enjoy rap), probably his finest song

Weird...I don't really know anything about Lil Wayne, but the other song Flying Lotus remixed, out of 2, was "A Millie" (or is it called Robo Tussin?):

Can't say I like that one as much, but whatever...

Anyway, here's the instrumental for both:
