I'm mildly freaked out (in a good way) that my favorite chiptune artist just posted.

Not to mention that Wisp posted a bunch today after I listened to two of his albums. Miracles around you and you don't even know it.

Since when did Nullsleep start posting here? Whats up man!

Hey guys, I've lurked around here on and off but I just registered today.

Last couple years have been focused on grad school, but I'm nearly done. Thought it would be a good time to emerge from the shadows.

After graduation I'll be throwing myself into music / art full-time. Ready to work my ass off to make it work.

Looking forward to the new music! I saw Bitshifter, Saskrotch, and you in Chicago on the last leg of the Chiptune Resistance tour. Thanks for the good times, and welcome to the boards. :trashbear:

don't think any of these came out on labels (not exactly sure of that), but I listened to this nonstop for about a week..

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

Deepex: Right on, thanks! I'm actually going to be playing in Chicago on May 19th. Don't want to derail this thread though, so I'll post about this in the live dates / tours section.

thanks robert moses: Nice one. Radix, Edzes and Zalza have made some fucking classic tunes.

Wow, Nullsleep great stuff.

I'd say i,cactus is probably my favourite 8bit at the moment.

I'm really put off by Chiptunes. It really reeks of crass, tripe commodity music, imo. Too many tone-deaf idiots just buying LSDJ and posting their crap on the web. It doesn't help that the entire scene is based around netlabels too pussy to have anything pressed onto vinyl.

That said, I really like DJ Scotch Egg.

Nullsleep, 4mat, Higedriver (ヒゲドライバー) and Maru are my favorites. Himuro does amazing tunes too, even if its not always 100% chiptune.

If you're looking for "pop-emo-chiptune", check the album Deus Ex Machina of Floppy, or :( (yep, its a band name)

Isn't 8bitpeoples pretty much the authority?

Check out http://www.iimusic.net also. They've put out some really amazing releases.

nullsleep, hey man, datachild / produkt / arcade_kid here, long time no see. ;D

This is one of my favorite chip tracks. Stu rips the Atari ST to shreds! Pretty Drum N Bass too.

Echo: I think the chip music scene is the same as any other -- some good, some bad, some ugly. I think your comment on netlabels being "too pussy" to release vinyl is a little bizarre. In my experience it usually comes down to a question of money more than balls as the deciding factor here.

data: Hey! Seems like we keep running into each other on the Internets every couple years. Still think your tunes on the beepdealers chipdisk are some of the best around. I really should check out what you're up to these days. And about Zabutom, I agree 100% -- in terms of sheer compositional skill, no one can touch him.
