I think it would be a return to what sounds like when they originally started out making music... in fact, a bit of singing wouldn't hurt either I reckon...

yes, the clouddead remix is one of the best songs they made besides the vocals. with the vocals it's still sweet. it's really happy and fun. their next contribution i hope is going to be fun.

honestly i thought this remix was very lackluster....super busy mix...the tone is moves dangerously close to happy pop electronic like the postal service or something. whats more it didnt really bring anything new or interesting to the song. the original is better imho

i'd rather have they released some crappy indie album soon than some new electronic vehicle in 5 more years. if it sucks, at least i can move on

See Future Sound of London's - Amorphous Androgynous - The Isness for quite how badly that kind of transition can go...

I think the fact that Gary Cobain dissapeared up his own arsehole didn't really help FSOL's cause.

why would they make a traditional instruments album?

because they don't care about doing what their fans want.

I would be disappointed at first in the announcement of a non-electronic BOC record. But I would buy it, listen to it a fucking lot and after overstating my negative opinion finally acknowledge the good things about it and probably love it as much as the rest of the BOC catalogue after enough time (assuming it's good!)

I mean, Dayvan Cowboy is kind of non-electronic. I would dig more of that kind of thing.

i can't see them completely changing their direction like that. i'd listen to it either way. if they can create the same feel as their previous material with traditional instruments i'd enjoy it as much as an electronic release.

If anyone believes everything the Sandison's say in interviews then we might as well take down all of Richard D James' bollocks as gospel as well.

I think they just use whatever instruments they have their disposal to make the kind of music they like. I thought I read somewhere that they aren't particularly huge fans of electronic music/Warp kinda stuff.

Once they have mined the veins of their distinct sound, then perhaps. But I think they have plenty of places yet to go and have only scratched the surface of the possibilities of the BOC sound. I think once they reach their zenith and that album comes then they might do a complete u-turn and change direction. A lot of artists have done the same. I actually like it when that happens but I wouldn't want BoC to do it just yet as I think they have so much left to do. I still believe they have an electronic album up their sleeves better than anything they have done before. I really believe that.

So please fellas no folk-thrash metal album just yet LoL.

AHA a hearty "lol" indeed! The Sandison veins are decades deep in music history son.

Boards project might be mined though.

TBH its getting to a mass hysterical critical tipping point that anything would do! Maybe an album of whale music with the brothers reciting Aleister Crowley over the top would be good?

I know sometimes I say silly things on the BOC forum but it's only a bit of jesting.

When, and if the big announcement comes via the Warp website my mind will reel at the possibilities. I am not even their biggest fan but to me they always show glimmers of pure brilliance.

Sometimes we sit on here bemoaning the lack of activity but perhaps these guys have has some shit to deal with in their personal lives and familiy business to attend to. I am sure not everyday is a pagan Red Moon party (whatever the fuck that is!).

All that said. C'mon chaps, hurry up, we all love you!

Peace.

If BoC recorded it, even if the music was the backdrop to an hour of recorded diarrhea in the loo of an Edinburgh bar, I'd fuckin' buy it, and I'd fuckin' listen to that shit.

Then you'll love the 3rd interlude track on the album entitled "urinalcake"

Wow, I try for a crappy pun, and I hit it right on the nose!

:sorcerer:

The style of their next album don't matter as long as they don't make another blue/green/turquoise-tainted sleeve with creepy kids without faces on it.

You're the first person I've seen have this opinion. Musically, I think the original Dead Dogs Two is the most boring track on the album. Oof, and then that one part toward the middle, "Blood breathing by the side of the highway..........Drone........." It's so empty, BOC added that awesome synthy thing.

Ha, on another note, it seems like every girl prefers Why?'s Good Friday, while every guy prefers BOC's.

I imagine if Boards of Canada didn't put out another CD the aesthetic would be picked up more by other artists (Tycho already captures it pretty well)... I think I could see them going a more acoustic route similar to Bibio based on thei interest in acoustics now that came into play on The Campfire Headphase.
