i have been listening to lots of squarepusher's early music lately and i have to say - it is amazing.

tracks like WHOOSHKI on his STEREOTYPE EP just blow you away - it is seriously some of the best acid ever. The SH101 riffs that he put together were beautiful, THEME FROM ERNEST BORGIONE is another example of this. squarepusher was doing this, not to fit into an 'acid genre' or to be wacky or for any other reason other than it just sounds amazing.

i read a lot of negative shit about him and frankly, i don't care what anybody thinks about what he says. he did more for me than any of the losers on the forums - he made music that was incredible and went to another place. i am only interested in his music and not pinning him down as some kind of dick. i am not as much into his stuff nowadays but its up to him what he does - he made better stuff in the 90's than anyone else (except aphex) people should show some respect!

stereotype ep is immensely underrated. o'brien off that one is ridiculous. i wish i had a really good quality copy of this album. i personally think that style, along with his chaos ad material, is fucking fantastic.

squarepusher needs to release more of the chaos ad style.

but honestly i love a lot of aphex's stuff, but tom will always be tops in my book

despite being an avid squarepusher fanatic i never got into his pre-fmwt music all that much, especially crot

crot is pretty awful though.

the stereotype ep rip floating around is shit. doesn't help that the vinyl press quality is bad.

i've done a test rip on whooshki from my copy and it's an improvement. actually more listanble.

i was just speaking in terms of audio quality. but yeah, the sh-101 sequence in whooski is quite awesome.

its actually a tb-303 sequence cv gated in to the sh-101.

p.s - crot ep is fucking awesome.

but it is slightly shuffled - how do you explain that? - i think its a 101 sequence running off the clock in a 909 shuffle pattern, no?

hmm, have not heard the stereotype ep, will check it out. thanks for bringing it to my attention
