Aphex Twin got nominated for best Brit Male ,Drukqs didn't get nominated (although Drukqs was the reason he got the nomination)

*I am still not entirely convinced that Cornish is not an entirely made up language. It just looks too much like Welsh spelled backwards.

It's odd to me, how this is so many people's favourite Aphex album. But then again, when we've finished this whole re-listening project, are we going to go back and do a "rate the major albums and put them in order of your favourite" (see also: the conversation Sneaksta303 and I were having on the RDJA thread re ICBYD)

Sure, why not? That's a good idea MB, my opinion of you is changing slowly I'm not even sure if I can make a poll, but I'll definitely test it out once we're through with this.

I actually hated this album when I first got it, it's obviously DARKER than RDJA but also it seemed sparser in another way like not enough sound/textural stuff compared to RDJA. I dunno how to explain it. I'm glad a couple people like Meltphace 6 the best though, I think the ambience reaches the level of SAWII tracks (is that the same voice from [mold]) and it's complex without being ridiculous driving beats. Out of all the tracks I think it's most like you could find it happy or sad or relaxing or exciting or whatever. And those chords near the end, I love how they're just there, they don't really feel like they're intended to increase tension or to be 'pretty', not overly so at least, it's just like they're there in case you want them. and the track is kind of yellow too aren't all his favorite tracks yellow

I still think he sacrifices something like intensity for that quality of sounding accessible/relatable even though it's completely bizarre stuff. RDJA is really good at this for example

It's interesting that you see it as a yellow track. I dont have synesthesia but Meltphace reminds me of Yellow Calx.

Yeah, I've always seen Meltphace as white. Ziggomatic as green or blue. Gwely Mernans would be dark red. Vordhosbn black maybe. Black or white. Bbydhyonchord blue/purple.

I listened to drukqs yesterday. I never noticed the background bleeps in Omgyjya-Switch7. The drill and bass tracks (or however people refer to them) are some of the best music I've ever heard. So ferocious but filled with so much optimism and beauty. They really do sound like he was trying to create the most full-on, exciting, orgasm-inducing music. The first 5 minutes of Mt Saint Michel + Saint Michaels Mount is just so so good. So little can compare to the best stuff on this album for me.

A crap summary, i'll try again whenever.

I can reaffirm that Meltphace is yellow, specifically a golden amber hue.

Nah, it's just this thing that the Aphexuals around here like to pretend they have synesthesia because it makes them feel closer to their beloved Rrrrrrrrichie.

You know, who am I to criticise but you know, when a rare phenomenon like synesthesia seems to manifest itself in the fanbase of an artist who has it - at a rate of about 20x the normal population? I dunno... Wait, let me try it out and see if I can do this synesthesia thing!

These numbers.... they smell like.... kinda brown.... brown and round.... yeah, definitely getting a brownish round smell off this...

BTW, all of drukqs is a teal leaning more towards the green tint, except for avril which is like... tangerine orange.

DISCLAIMER FOR SEXUALLY FRUSTRATED CAT LADIES: i, and nor does anyone else in this community, claim to have actual synaesthesia, that is, to actually experience a visual component to sound. Nor does, i think, Richard, as in some cases synaesthesia can be quite obstructive to leading a normal life. It's just that, he, and everyone else, has these things called "imagination", "sentience" and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebral_cortex#Association_areas that allows them to associate visual cues to whatever. You know, the way they gauge intelligence in monkeys and apes and that should come naturally to all humans?

P.S. i nominate "a squirt of Aphex sperm up your vagina" as most IDM thing 2011, and as least likely way that a sexually active girl would refer to sex 2011-2999.
