I got it for £10 inc. delivery on Boomkat, think it's on offer for the week or something. I really like the album but it is a little short and I think I bought it more from guilt since I've still not picked up the much superior Scuba album.

Not on grade with their first EP but still very good, and maybe it'll pick up after some more listens.

Well its probably my album of the year so far just haven't picked it up yet. I'll get it shortly :)

xxx, after listening to more samples for this, I can definitely understand your enthusiasm for this album! Definitely placing my order on Tues. I loved the EPs as well, Mt. Kimbie really have a sound all their own that happens to basically combine every genre of music I like into something cohesive and brilliant.

Point 2: So James Blake=50% of Mount Kimbie? Fuuuuu :wtf: dude, now I want. He seems to be a bit more Squee on his own :music: and I blew my "allowance" on Bleep already. Sheeeyet, into the queue he goes--thanks for the tip though! PS thanks but no thanks to PM offers folks RE: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/58018-piracy/

Yeah, I've been meaning to check Blake's stuff out as well, thanks for the links. He's not half of Mt/ Kimbie, just collaborates with them occasionally.

Point 1: Competing for best av in WATMM, shit I'm still trying to get over the Bill Hader shot, though--it's tough. But that cover works on several levels. Most kids would've said "cool, I'm a monster I wanna read to see what I do". But with all my neuroses and anxieties as a kid, I would have seen the cover and soberly said, "I truly am a monster" and think about how I sexually experimented with the neighbor girl and was masturbating but thought that God Himself was gonna strike me dead. Evangelical upbringings are hard to defeat at first AHAHAHAHA!

Hahaha, yeah, that cover is wicked. Aside from the cool image and obvious nostalgia factor, I totally remember thinking this was an accusatory statement as a kid. That asshole author Edward Packard made me feel like a real scumbag.

As for James Blake, he's not one of the two members but I know he's done a lot of work on their past releases, you can definitely hear his influence with the weird vocal snippets. The CMYK EP is probably the overall strongest release on there but holy fuck, some of his tracks like the Untold remix and Air & Lack Thereof are just amazing. And the Harmonimix release is awesome just for the WTF factor.

This is a really great album.

I like their first EP which everyone got excited about but was left disappointed by the follow-up. This album, for me, tops any of their previous work. I was expecting disappointment, as is often the case with these much-hyped new acts, but it went the other way and Mount Kimbie managed to surpass and outdo any expectations I had of them.

The main draw is that it's so unique. I wouldn't even know how to describe this music. It's kind of dubstep, but not really. The music also has a lot of personality.

Very impressive indeed.

He does have an album coming out eventually too, right? I was reading an interview with him on Big Up mag.

Supposedly, although I haven't heard much about it.

XXX

In your honour for your fantastic review, (and your gushing words of love for the British) I will take up your gauntlet for this album and listen to it. Otherwise to be honest I wouldn't of given it a second glance. Looking forward to it.

I've changed my mind. mount kimbie make some great music. I think I was thrown off because I was expecting something closer to dubstep, plus it's on hot flush, and I've been listening to their stuff for a matter of years now so my expectations were quite particular.

Here Here!

You would've never thunk it to wind up here but here it undoubtedly is :cisfor:

The more I listen to this album (aka all the fucking time) the more layers show themselves and the more gorgeously funky it gets.

Like I said before, the bar just got raised to the stratosphere. Good luck everyone!

I'm also pleased to hear that my spastic orgiastic reviews have prompted some to check it out!

Yes indeed, new Darkstar record will help to fill the void and raise the bar as well! :aphexsign:
