yeah, while his films are disturbing, i shoudve mentioned the humor in them as well. theres a pretty good amount in gummo and a ton in mister lonely. like playing three six mafia in the old folks home at the beginning...

Mr. lonely wasn't that great, but Gummo is fantastic. Any opinions on Julien Donkey-boy? I've only seen it once and it left me puzzled.

i haven't seen mr. lonely or julien donkey-boy. i'll have a preview

saw this yesterday, there was actually allot of real poetry embedded in to it and extended 'photographic' shots

the shocking, nonsensical behavior and degenerated qualities are more surface level

the actual trash fetishism could be allegorical.. i dunno, reminded me a bit of Lars von Trier's Idioterne

im puzzled as to why people are so hard on mister lonely. sure its not as hardcore as his other films but it has some really beautiful moments.

id say its worth it for the intro alone

mr lonely, I don't know why I didn't like it, i never felt any connection to the characters or their actions and got rather bored with their little commune... julien donkey-boy I watched with a terrible hang-over and i was kind of just staring at the imagery and telling my brain to stop throbbing, I never really got into what was going on, I guess it's time I re-watch it soon.

I laughed and squirmed at this last night, a silly then very sinister film although it does run a little dry in the last third but thats the same with all of his films.

Korine stripped down to the bone completely opposite to Mr Lonely.

it kinda fits somewhere between Gummo and Julien Donkeyboy, classic stuff

I can see myself humping bins, street lamps and trees in the neigh hours this weekend

I don't know - sure the content of it looks over the top ridiculousness but the actual aesthetic of it all is what appeals to me. The grimy VHS look just looks real nasty (in a good way) so I'd be quite interested in giving this one a go !
