yeah, even the dialogue was pretty accurate to the comic. "I just popped your skull so hard your eye popped out!". The terseness made me lol.

the difference in acting when negan was not on screen was nothing short of flol. especially that Maggie scene.

Managed to drop watching during spin-off despite being a franchise zombie (consumed the comics and two Telltale games). Wasn't hard at all surprisingly, the experience even helped me to not get tied to following other shows like Westworld. Highly recommended.

the premiere was pure torture porn. really disturbing. it crossed a line for me where i'm thinking 'why am i watching this?'

not 'why am i watching this' because the show is so shitty, but 'why am i watching this' because the show is so violent, sadistic...

is this still considered entertainment? what the hell is it? is it really a good thing becoming desensitized to this level of violence & horror? how many millions of people watched this episode all over the world? adults, teens, adolescents...

it's strange because i grew up watching horror movies. i'm definitely no stranger to the genre. but this episode made me take a step back. with all the horror & stress in the real world, do i really need to subject myself to more of this? maybe if there was a higher message or some powerful artistic / philosophical point being communicated, but lets be real this is just AMC trying to make a buck.

it's strange because i grew up watching horror movies. i'm definitely no stranger to the genre. but this episode made me take a step back. with all the horror & stress in the real world, do i really need to subject myself to more of this? maybe if there was a higher message or some powerful artistic / philosophical point being communicated, but lets be real this is just AMC trying to make a buck.

a friend of mine was so disturbed by last episode that he said he's finished with the show. 

huh, I thought the last episode of AHS was more torture porn than that season premier.

there probably isn't any correlation, all the research done into it shows the opposite, violent crime has been trending downwards for a long time now. I guess it's possible that it could be going down faster if it wasn't for violent media, but there's no evidence to suggest that's the case.

I don't really think desensitization and lack of empathy is the same thing :)

Hmmm, I guess being in/around Detroit my whole life I don't see violent crime going down. There's a couple shootings a day here. And many other violent acts commited as well, Guess I'm looking at things from my environment and what I see on the news day in, day out. Just seems like people just don't give a fuck. Way more nowadays than when I was growing up. People are just quick to react, and react aggressively.

Hmmm, I guess being in/around Detroit my whole life I don't see violent crime going down. There's a couple shootings a day here. And many other violent acts commited as well, Guess I'm looking at things from my environment and what I see on the news day in, day out. Just seems like people just don't give a fuck. if the show went the other way not showing anything i'm sure there would be complaints.

i do find censorship in the US bizarre though. on a lot of films & tv especially, all the swear words & nudity is cut out where as violence is allowed. notice how there is no swearing in TWD or other shows. i remember watching a daytime version of goodfellas, all the violence was still in & all the swearing was dubbed out, lol

That's always a lol. My kids might be watching something on the family channel in the afternoon, and they show commercials of shows with grisly violence. Can't remember the show, but it always showed a girl carved up in the commercial. I was like "c'mon guys...a little decorum please"

To the swearing point, I don't know how F/X is doing it, but Atlanta drops the F and N bombs with no problem. I think AHS has as well. Mr. Robot got away with that too.

AMC should get in on that act, because their beloved Negan is neutured compared to the comics.

yeah seems to be something to do with cable rules regard AMC, some streams of mr robot still edit out when they say fuck which i guess must be US streams, but yeah i don't think negan is going to be swearing anytime soon 

I don't think there is anything stopping them from cursing on amc. I'm sure heard 'shit' in Mad Men at least a few times.

edit - I think these decisions have more to do with the sensitivities of advertisers.

On People vs OJ Simpson, Sarah Paulson said motherfucker so the rules must be murky these days.

Did people get this sensitive during certain Game of Thrones episodes too? First thing that came to my mind when watching the last show was that they were trying to either get on par or top GoT, but that's just based on the massive gushing the GoT fanbois did after certain episodes (never bothered to watch it myself).

If I'm honest, I was forced into this show by coworkers who wouldn't take no for an answer and foisted Blu-Rays onto my lap. Over 6 months, I got caught up to now but it's not really that great of a watch. The formula is fatiguing: brief stability-->attack by fascist living force and/or too many walkers + group scatter-->shoot/explode/chop to victory + group reunion-->brief stability. Rinse repeat. I'm too deep into the momentum of it now. Coworker hosts everybody at her house to watch it on Sundays and in-group/out-group dynamics are real. I choose belonging.

I dunno, I'm quite enjoying binge watching season 6. It would probably suck having to wait a week between episodes.
