SH101 pitchsampled rather muilti sampled hence the pitch artefacts which actually sound quite haunting in the lower octaves

jeff mills used this lo-fi style technique a lot on Metropolis

are we talking about the beginning synth in tundra, or the opera-like voice sample that later follows? either one doesn't sound like a 101 at all. but that synth is amazing, mostly thanks to really good use of gain/reverb/etc. i'd be intrested to know the source of that.

sorry, but a sh-101 made by roland cant make that kind of sound.. plus its a monosynth.

so what if its a monosynth? it's called multitrack layering. a pretty basic recording technique....also, there's a little thing called a "sampler" that you may have heard of. akai's s-series were all the rage around the time fmwt and hnd came out. he could have sampled the 101 and played it back polyphonically. we also know that squarepusher is fond of using dsp harmonizers. there are probably a dozen other ways you can get that sound out of an sh101. including using delay and chorus creatively.

anyway, what i think you meant to say in your reply is "sorry, but i don't know how to make an sh-101 make that kind of sound"
