The cat was ultimately named itself Dusty.

Owning a cat will teach you a lot about the limits of how much you can or should expect to be able to control another living being. Cats are emotionally confusing. I mean people talk about how fussy cats are, but cats are vindictive animals at times. And sometimes they follow you around the house wanting attention, and then you pick them up and they’re like “I DON’T WANT TO GET PICKED UP I JUST WANT TO FOLLOW YOU FROM ROOM TO ROOM!” and you’re like, “Cat, can I just pet you for five minutes and have this over with?” and the cat’s like “Don’t patronize me!” Every single cat owner has had that discussion with their cat.

And sometimes SOMETIMES they come and lay down next to you when you’ve had a hard day and they lay in their own little way, and you are comforted and you think, “Having cats can be a sweet experience.” And then you pick them up for a sad lonely cat hug, and the cat’s like “Oh, you know I don’t like that.” and bolts and you’re like “GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE SHIT, THAT HUG ISN’T OVER YET!”

So yeah. Cats. They’re something.
