yeah the hair is a little iffy, the most impressive part about the OP is the skin rendering. Can see the oily sheen, looks better than most wax replicas of people. Some renders look really nice but there is an obvious plastic costumey quality about them.

But dude, you made it pretty obvious that you are easily fooled by these cgi candy. Just put one of these renders next to a real photo and you will find LOTS of details that are far from being similar to a genuine human face.

I see nothing wrong with human body renderings, but comparing them with the real ones its just absurd.

Yes and you can tell it's been scaled at the edges of the wrinkles left and right of the nose.

I don't find this too impressive, it looks fake alltogether, it's a good model and I couldn't do it, mostly cause I don't know how to do proper modelling yet, but the eyes look lifeless and the corner of the mouth is just off. The beard is really well done though but we don't know whether it exists in different views as well. It's a good image but there's been better ones.

Notice how all the realistic looking images got a certain graininess about them? Also most of them have imperfect camera angles or emulate over-exposure or other things that are actually considered faulty when dealing with real cameras. I'm not criticizing that, I think it's a great way to give digital images more texture, but one shouldn't be too impressed by that alone and mistake it for high quality render. Four years ago I made this animation and many many many people fell for it and thought it was real, even though the model and the textures are real simple. It just took the tracked camera motion, background noise and that plastic-clicking to convince them.

lol, I was saying to just go meh its still artificial is pretty ridiculous, it appears it wasn't even a professional that was designing that render, we have a come a long way in the last few years. Professional A+ video games and movies will be able to do some incredibly photorealistic shit in the near future and make avatar look like a fucking peanut... a lonely little peanut

the potential for our evolution in computational processing for entertainment/music/alternate realities/virtual worlds etc. is something I think is getting very interesting and should be appreciated and not scoffed @

Look at the T-Rex from Jurassic Park, then look at Avatar. I know there was a physical version of the T-Rex too but I honestly think the T-Rex looked more real at all times.

ummm.. that's kind of a good point but also not, T Rex was a quality testament to pushing boundaries and jamming the envelope with love... but it was one of very very few CGI integrations compared to modern shit that is composed of mostly all digital rendering.

The OP proves that personal time, love and ambition with competent tools can supersede professional obligation. Sometimes I greatly appreciate mediocre demonstrations as merely proof of the half potential what someone with real blood, sweat and tears sacrifice could do with given new devices.
