Ken Robinsons says school kills creativity.

Recommended Posts

not gonna try embed that but it's a really entertaining speech about how robinson feels that public education, was developed, essentially, in the 19th century to mould people into good industrial workers.

i feel he makes a good point; we should embrace peoples talents as they are rather than forcing them to "use their head, slightly to one side".

check it out, y0!

after hanging out with hookers with no formal education who don't know how to read a map, or what's inside your head (what's a "brain"?), I have to say at least a basic education serves a purpose.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

there is no direct link for creativity serving a purpose in the designated careers that keep society running. Its not needed to keep things as is

basic education does. but once you get into high school, it's just pointless fluff that almost no one needs

its not even about one being better than the other, its more about awarding all choices/paths. einstein is a strong example of someone who was a rebel and ignored accepted theories, he focused more on his imagination

Please don't. They lose out on learning how to socially interact with others. Which is something that needs to be enhanced.

Schooling definitely needs an overhaul: universities used to be places where you learned how to think critically and apply yourself to problems, more and more they are being seen as degree mills.

A lot of schools have responded to this by offering inter-disciplinary degrees that combine arts and sciences.

Still, school only beats creativity out of you if you let it. (oh and by the way, graduating from high school is NOT necessary for going to post-secondary education).

Keep in mind this guy is English, so the schools he has in mind are gothic prisons filled with pugilism, homosexuality, and wizards

I do believe this is actually true worldwide. I did not finish high school, but was able to enter an "entry-level" course at college and move onto a further three years of education.

true in the states, i dropped out, got my GED and got into some good 4 year schools based on my SAT scores alone. of course, i dropped out of said 4 year school as well. sigh. oh well, hopefully going back this fall.

when i think of home schooling, i think of uneducated fundamentalist christians who are afraid of the liberal brainwashing in public schools.
