this is currently my #1 electronic next to actress

vhs head and flylo are in there but i've started to get annoyed with them. more of a mellow mood at the moment.

Oh well, I stole a lot of Oval in the Napster/Kazaa days. Markus and co. deserve it. It's a really great album. The drums work better than I thought they would and music like Oval's is rarely produced so 2 hours worth is an awesome deal.

Hmm, it does indeed say "Not Available" now. Maybe they realized their fuck-up and they quickly deactivated downloads.

just downloaded it off thrill jockey's site for $15. oval is incredible. i will get countless hours of peace of mind out of this.

since my cd collection has hit over 800, i've seriously run out of room to store them - so i'm very ok with digital releases now. usually don't purchase cds anymore unless it comes with some bonus thing (for instance, steve reich's upcoming cd comes with a signed manuscript).

after a few more listens, i think o is one of the top releases of the year.

eh... i own two cds, ravel and debussey, which my sister got me for christmas last year. my laptop's cd drive is busted, i don't particularly care for the material of the cd or the case, i'm more interested in the sound, and it's way more efficient to keep the stuff stored digitally-only.

also, thrill jockey has given me 5 total downloads of Oval's "O," making it my right (i think, legally) to offer up the remaining 4 downloads to watmm members? let me know if you want a copy and think my assumption is legitimate. i don't know why they'd give me 5 copies to myself.

to each his own i guess.

but this oval album is really REALLY good. in fact i cant think of anything from 2010 that beats it.

Sorry to be a bother about this, wondering if anyone else has picked up a CD copy and attempted to rip disc 2 yet? I cannot rip it but I can play it…

What seems to be the issue is that disc 2 "starts" at track 21 (being that disc 1 ends w/ track 20, I suppose) and whatever they did to put the blank tracks at the beginning is fucking it up.

Either that or I got a bad disc. Which would be my assumption if this was anyone but Oval, and if the track numbers didn't match up so nicely. Also, I really don't want to go back to the store since I think I lost my receipt.

but isnt the idea behind these little miniature tracks to just listen to a few at a time? or let one track repeat? there's so much detail in each track that it's hard to grasp by just letting it play through.

I tried listening to this and after "ah" things started to sound like mosquitos buzzing near my ears. I'm going to have to listen to this some other time.
