lol all the people who are surprised by this make me laugh, how can you think ohhh this cant happen, ohh its not fare.. ohh people will get pissed.... but mostly people just get pissed on, this was inevitable and internet piracy is just one among many "freedom's" that the hierarchy will do anything to take from us. This is a world run off greed and power trips

Guest Blanket Fort Collapse

The internet just like any medium of mass world communication will eventually become just as controlled and censored as television. Anyone who thinks freedom of speech and privacy will always be a given is a fool who doesn't see the world before them. There will be protests, outrage, defiance to the new world but it will be far too little... far too late. Maybe we deserve big brother sticking there paws in everything we do, maybe its the only way to control the stupid as fuck ricky retardo mindless distracted sheep that they have created... all I know is this world is a pretty epic lols dark ass comedy.

The greed has a source - and that's money. It's rewarding to be corrupt and work against the good principle of "free access" to the arts we produce.

I'm sure there are many lobbyists who are financially encouraging politicians to bring about such useless legal legislation.

lols at lobbyists, legislation and the illusion of democracy

but lets not get it twisted.. the free reign golden age of piracy of have thoroughly enjoyed is not all peaches and cream for everyone and everything

Obama obviously hasn't checked the super power list:

1. The Internet

2. China

3. EU

4. USA

He doesn't seem to be in the position to change anything. No there's no need to worry, think of all the stuff politicians have promised and then not delivered. This will be another one.

(Disclaimer, I have no idea if that list is in the correct order, all I know is the Internet is top)

Its a long detailed discussion I guess for some people but seriously if you think the worlds government's don't have the ammunition and resources to force ISP's and the entire foundation of the internet to be censored and controlled as much as television in the next few years you are living a crazy world.

These are crazy times with all sorts of complex dynamics to situations. Sure corporatism is fucked up and most people would like the motivating infrastructure to be different and for us to be living in a zeitgeist utopia (which will wont happen in the next hundred or thousand years)... but under the social/economic system anarchist level take what you want internet piracy is fucking with industries hardcore. Which might be a good thing but you think they are just gonna sit back and watch the internet be this freedom filled source to exchange anything and everything for little to cut for the big wigs?

But there are waay more motivating factors than just stopping piracy for the big guys to want to control the internets infinite possibilities in exchange.

I honestly don't know enough, but you seem pretty confident about the future, making me think you really aren't one to take seriously, at least on this subject. How can you be so certain of an internet future like you described.

Guest Blanket Fort Collapse

Rather merely saying I'm supremely confident that this will happen just as said when no one knows for sure if our particular ambiguously unknown universe will collapse at any moment. I'm much more so facepalming @ those who think this type of controlled shut down of the wide open lubed tubes of possibility is impossible. To think that some sort of real rational democracy will always stand up against seemingly completely ridiculous loss of freedom.

Again explaining my confidence would apparently be a long tedious discussion for some people even in a forum I would say that primarily populated with very intelligent individuals.

I am not trying to be disrespectful just frustrated.

People quickly and easily rally up in the thousands upon thousands for LeBron Appreciation Day in a desperate attempt to suck the mental penis of an arrogant bastard who is good at getting a ball in a hoop. Nearly pointless distracting bullshit and everyone gets together on it and its widely publicized. The majority of people would rather discuss the new snippets of info about Sandra bullocks broken heart in the tabloids or gazillions of other irrelevant rat shit than search to be able to look at the actual world realistically for what it is and or fight for something important.

Even in the rare moments these days that the people protest and disapprove intensely over inequities in control how often at all has that made an actual real change in the machine? At the very fucking best all it does 99% of the time is prolong the now nearly inevitable a little bit longer.

But then according to you such a freedom should have been controlled from the beginning? And if your response is that they didn't adapt fast enough, who says they can adapt to a rapidly changing and organic world. Anything can happen is my point.

Also Television was never like the internet. Unless webspace somehow costs so much to host (which makes absolutely no sense, prices will go down as tech improves) free thought will always have a place. Many might be unaware of its presence but it will probably be the same people who are unaware today. You can't just put a cork in something like the internet once we've had a taste of its greatness.

Guest Blanket Fort Collapse

According to me the world's progression should not have continued to have money and power be the motivating factor behind the entire infrastructure of its "modern" societies but it very much so still is.... and will continue that way until a fucking epic (over used word but couldn't be more in context here) huge monstrous monstrosity of a change in the world.

From your statement giving any reference political parties like they mean something significant.. you obviously have enough believe in the illusion of a current democracy that I have not the ambition to continue this discussion.

Guest Blanket Fort Collapse

But yes just like television laws can be strictly enforced, the mediums of exchange can be bottleneck controlled to prohibit and stop the large majority of content deemed illegal for the internet.

basically a patriot act like change for the internet putting in massive constraints on ISP's and all global data exchange etc. could and will be put in place just like the FCC and corporations have control over Television. Its not a matter of if its a matter of time.

So a Patriot Act is going to have the computing power to monitor and control a global communication network of billions of people? I say corporatism will fail, and fail hard. Why?

We outnumber them, the world is diversifying, expanding, and growing in ways our minds simply can't comprehend. These greedy assholes only got to where they are out of luck and a cold heart. They aren't super intelligent humans. They are simply scum. We just live in a world where baby boomers run things... people who use the internet for stupid shit (mostly). In a few generations I can't imagine a world that you speak of with such certainty.

And how many people out of those 6 billion are a part of this big scary corporate machine? Almost ALL of us.

Not to mention there's hardly any people out there that are smart enough/willing enough to fight the good fight. We are a minority.

Do you really think that's about to change?

Dr. Ian Malcolm: No, I'm simply saying that life, uh... finds a way.

Dr. Ian Malcolm: I'll tell you the problem with the scientific power that you're using here: it didn't require any discipline to attain it. You read what others had done and you took the next step. You didn't earn the knowledge for yourselves, so you don't take any responsibility... for it. You stood on the shoulders of geniuses to accomplish something as fast as you could and before you even knew what you had you patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunchbox, and now

Dr. Ian Malcolm: you're selling it,

[pounds table again]

Dr. Ian Malcolm: you want to sell it!

I would say I wish I had your optimism but I don't. If I did it have some delusional optimism of the world it would'nt change much of anything significantly with my life or others and I would be much more disappointed when I see that things have to get much fucking shittier to get any better.

Again you saying shit like the world is being run simply by baby boomers like they are just regular doods who just decided they wanted to get into politics and make a difference leads me further into knowing this conversation is going nowhere in direction to your optimistic navi winning the war blue paint on the heli pandora prevails greed loses outlook

Also do you guys not realize how close we were to an economic meltdown? They saved it, but who knows how long till it happens again...

Thats my point. You can't be certain of the future.

lol just call me delusional, when you're the one who seems to know the future!

All I'm saying is I don't know where the future lies. The reason I am arguing with you is you seem certain you do know. That as I said to me seems kind of crazy.

Also, the world is being run by baby boomers, the most spoiled greedy generation of them all. But heh it was only 60 years ago when the rich in the US had 90% tax rates... now its 30%...

When exactly did this "machine" begin btw Blanket?
