a guy from this punk band that crashed at my apartment last year was telling me about this band from i *think* Italy, band name starts with an L, and they did some live instrumentation covers of autechre songs.

they sounded like pretty weird dudes, they were trying to get signed to a particular label they liked, so they kept sending the owner untitled CDR's with clippings of their hair and other random bits every time they sent him a demo. then they finally got signed and they wouldn't let the label-owner see them, they recorded with him but they insisted on being behind a screen so that they couldn't be seen during the process at all.

this definitely sounds like the kind of band i want to hear covering autechre, but i cant' remember what the damn name was. and I don't think i have a way of contacting this guy who was telling me about it anymore. I don't know why I didn't look it up sooner

starts with an L and it's one word

Larson.

they did a recording session where they listened to loads of autechre stuff in the studio, then played the melodic parts on guitar, then started jamming their tracks around these melodies and abstracted them. njot exactly an autechre cover band, but they used Ae melodies as a starting point. cool band, too!

I once read an interview with a drummer, who incorporates ae beats into songs during live shows, exact beat by beat replications from albums played on live drums. Who the hell was it? damn...I'll have to find that interview again.

Probably, if you got Virgil Donati or Vinnie Colaiuta to do it.
