it's a bit of a stretch to say that this album sounds like smash - but i would consider it the best of the choices you provided

Definitely "My Way". Most of the other stuff I'd recommend is off EP's:

Debruit - Cle De Bras EP

Onra - Long Distance

Mweslee - 4x7

Dorian Concept - Trilingual Dance Sexperience

Mono/Poly - The George Machine

yeah i was going to say back on some old thread a bunch of us thought VHS Head sounded like Jackson &HCB.

oh yes, don't worry I'm up to speed with all that and eagerly await the illusive album he promised.

i'm trying to follow the influence that lead into microhouse.

he's done and handful of remixes, DJ'd around europe a bit, and he says he's been working on the follow up to Smash, which he says he thinks will be finished in 6 months. which is probably French for three years.

so yes on Akufen? Skidoos seems really cool. I compare them in the sense of chaotic sampling, espicially orchestral stuff. And that Jackson sort of came from house music.

thanks onecaseman, I'll check it all out when I have a chance.

thanks for that. I think Onra was my favourite of those, which makes me happy because I'd already ordered his album.

Never thought of the Jackson comparison... (edit: is it the name?)

spot on, my father!

you've looked passed the immediate (J's glitch hop influences) and looked deep into the heart of what makes his work interesting.

there's one track on the latest Actress album that captures that confused 80's feel nicely:

Rephlex.com update 24 december 09 - "someone take a screenshot before they change it back to that green font static html that its been for the last 27 years!"

Some of GESCOM's A1-D1 has really sample heavy stuff (B1 that has the "TIME TO DIE" sample), though obviously not very stylistically similar to Jackson and His Computer Band.

Loves me some A1-D1.
