I found it weird that he described the colour of text on printed material using RGB values, especially the assumption that 'red' printed by a printer not equipped with pantone colours (ie. pretty much anything except for a press-grade analog printer) would be #FF0000. If he'd done proper research he would have found that CMYK inks can not match a true RGB red. The closest is C0 M100 Y100 K0 which is close, but not the bright red that #FF0000 achieves. What a fraud.

you found that weird?

lol

I was thinking that Modey just out-ullillilia'd ullillilia

That's what I was aiming for!

The reason why I found it weird is because he's seems to be so obsessive about describing exact colours, when really it's just an uneducated guess.

he's very into numbers and precision, so i don't think it's weird that he'd use numbers to convey the EXACT color he wants to describe. even when describing mundane things like going shopping he makes scale diagrams instead of using verbal descriptions.

he does try. going by what you said, it appears that he is just misinformed. maybe you could tell him on his youtube channel. i heard that he reads and replies to all of the comments on them if they are stated politely.

this is his reply to your post: "Colors are printed darker and thus lacking contrast. I have a program I wrote that brightens an image to better color match what I see on my monitor. It depends on the saturation of a color. The higher the saturation, the more lightening (with white) is needed. It works very well. It's not quite as accurate, but it's certainly far closer than just hitting print as is."

idk what he's talking about, but there you go.

edit: also i told him he should join watmm.

anyone else think the opening to that trailer could also be a documentary about frankie mcdonald? I was just waiting for the classic "ATTENTIOOON" after the titles about the flood in Minot.

I've seen him mention some similar things on his blog about frustrations with printing. I started to write an email to him explaining that monitor color and print color are two completely different ways of going about creating color and that he will never be able to get an accurate print color (from pigments) while thinking of them in terms of screen colors (from light) but I figured it would be lost on him.

The RGB colors won't even be exactly the same with different monitors which may have different color settings, like different color temperature. What he's trying to do is to match his own monitor to his own printer. Well, at least he's not using color names like salmon pink and electric lavender, lol.

BTW, I've read the Legend of the 10 Elemental Masters. Might be the weirdest but also the most original book I've read.

Its on his platformmasters site and he's also got an up-to-date diary there which is why his main blog isn't being updated

guys guys he also wants people to contirbute music for the levels

Thus, this is one area where fans can contribute. By having music-oriented fans create the music for me, there are 2 advantages I get out of this. The first is that I get much better quality music. With my skill, I'd be happy with a rather poor 4 rating on GameFAQs for the audio (10 is the best, 1 is the worst). If someone with 20 million seconds of total experience comes in, then an 8 wouldn't be too unusual, if not better. The second is that Platform Masters will be finished sooner since I can put my efforts into things I enjoy the most - level design (when I get far enough into development for that), programming, making the scenery, etc. Potentially 4 months can be trimmed off. I can guarantee that anyone who does contribute music or sound effects will be added to the credits. Actual payment is unknown and completely undecided at this point. There's no guarantee that Platform Masters will even be finished, but the chances are very high that it will.

That's kinda sad how they're mocking him and (I'm assuming) profiting from it...

in regards to the forums...im genuinely asking that WATMMers not go there and harass him. The guy is a bit of an eccentric (that's putting it lightly), but he doesn't need any unnecessary grief, eh?

Im almost tempted to send him game music submissions.

Well, they explicitly said they aren't going to mock him, but it remains to be seen how it comes out.

Highlighting his quirks is mocking - it's one thing if he films it himself and puts it online, but these people know better - as much as they pretend to be operating in his best interests, the vast majority of their audience is going to watch this with the same morbid curiosity as people who can't look away from a car accident, and they know it.

Not sure if I agree that just highlighting quirks is mocking, what tone it's done in is more important. So basically you are saying the countless of documentaries made of people with disabilities and how they manage their life are in fact mocking them? People are curious creatures, but not all curiosity has to be of the morbid kind.

Since none of us have seen the documentary it's too premature to say one thing or another of how they end portraying this undeniably peculiar person.
