but good catch from you, as i suppose most people have no idea what the "SpVgg Greuther" even is (even in Germany).

I just thought two clubs from the same region would be rivals.

No.. I don't know what SpVgg Greuther means.

they are not from the same region, they are from completely different parts of bavaria.

Greuther Fürth is from Franconia, Augsburg is from Swabia.

also, the rival team is FC Nürnberg for Greuther Fürth and 1860 München for Augsburg.
