50% off all Criterion titles (blu-ray & dvd)

They're still twenty dollars each, shit. The only Criterion dvd I have is Fear and Loathing, which I got for ten dollars slightly used.

Yeah, I'm gonna grab two and get the third for free.

Right now I have Andrei Rublev and Seven Samurai lined up, what should the third be?

I think most of Wes Anderson's films are in the Criterion Collection.

for some unknown reason, perhaps the same bizarre logic that led them to include "Armageddon"

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Rushmore's in that series...

Criterion's a marketing joke...

Wooah... Hold on...

Hopefully you don't think I'm trashing Rushmore... Definitely not...

I'm saying the Criterion collection is kind of silly seeing they market Robocop next to Cassavete's films... Their selections make no sense... Very vague criteria Mr. Criterion

Also they consider The Life Aquatic to be an important film??

Their way to up Wes Anderson's ass... I love Rushmore though... Own the Criterion version... Looks great...

I noticed today that "Dazed and Confused" is in their collection...big wtf

Why not? It's a great story, with excellent characters that anyone who's gone through high school can relate to. Plus it's worth it for the opening scene alone with the GTO pulling into the parkinglot and the opening drawn out guitar of Sweet Emotion. Damn.

It's obvious they know how integral Robocop is to IDM.

I don't defend every Criterion release; in fact, some are downright hilarious. Nonetheless, I think their criteria is actually quite solid. Some of the more independent, obscure titles in their catalog are complete rubbish. (See: Clean, Shaven) Meanwhile, some of their mainstream projects are perfect. (See: The Thin Red Line on Blu-ray coming out in 2 months. )

I have to agree about the Wes Anderson shit though. If they release The Fantastic Mr. Fox, all hope might be lost.

I was able to get Che, Kagemusha and Hoop Dreams for like $65. Would have gotten more but the store didn't have a lot of what I was looking for.

Been waiting for this to get a proper release for a long time. Too bad it doesn't seem to contain the rumored four hour version of the film. We'll probably never see that. But between this and Paths of Glory getting the Criterion treatment it'll be a great fall for dvds.

Meh. I don't love every Anderson film but if I was a filmmaker and had the chance to get all my films released by a company that's known for doing some of the best film to dvd transfers and generally giving the director approval over the material on the disc, I'd totally take it. Also, just as a film collector and a cheap bastard I appreciated Anderson making it possible for me to get the best version of his films at first release. For a while, I didn't have to worry about the double, quadruple or quintuple dips that you get from studios before you finally get a decent version of the film.
