i thought this was gonna be weed...maybe you dont smoke weed anyway...but i was gonna come in here like fuck this bullshit...but ya fuck cigarettes, whats the point. when you buy a pack of cigarettes youre just feeding 1) some corporate asshole who makes a living killing peoples and 2) the government. if this isnt enough of a reason to quit i dont know what is...oh and theyre $12 in new york. seriously, wtf? in 10 years people will be saying remember when a carton cost as much as a pack does now...do the math

i quit smoking weed back in november with no real problems. i kind of came to a realization that i had been relying on it as a psychological crutch and i had some issues to deal with after a really awful breakup. cigarettes have proven to be worse, fucking physical addictions.

and yeah, cigs are up to 7 bucks a pack here, which isn't so bad compared to other places, but still. that's like 28 bucks a week and i could spend that on other things.

i dont think ill ever be able to quit smoking weed...i guess i would be doing more without it. but whats nicer than a bowl and a corona in the summer time? good luck with the bogeys...if its the oral addiction just replace it with something equally badass...like a switchblade. and ya it blows my mind that two packs of cigarettes cost me as much as say a concert ticket...

if you really want to test your self control, put one in your mouth, light it and inhale

lol brutal logic but ultimately true.

i suppose in admitting you have any addiction you automatically forfeit a certain level of self control for good.

I quit smoking and drinking cold turkey. I know people who try to use patches and they always end up back on the cigarettes again, all of the people I know who have quit (and certainly the people on page 1 of this thread) have done it by quitting cold turkey and they appear to have stayed stopped for many years.

Good luck with it :-)

keep them in your house to see how much self control you really have

This is a really bad idea dude.

That's like me keeping a bottle of scotch in the cupboard even though no one else in the house drinks, just to see how tempted I may be.

Good on you for quitting.

I would never smoke a cigarette. I don't see the point. I mean, from what I've heard, after your first few they lose "effectiveness". And the smell isn't very good either. I would never drink either. Why drink something that tastes like shit to feel weird? Why? Do people really need to get drunk?

If you want to feel weird, look at your room upside down, or look at optical illusion thingies online. :trashbear:

If you are sad and want to drown your sorrow/smoke up to feel better, do something to make you happy. If nothing cheers you up, go to a therapist.

Why fuck with your body to feel better?

don't watch any movies or tv shows where characters smoke, that made me get mega cravings.

get addicted to something else...

tell your friends and room mates to encourage you not to smoke, if you feel cravings, talk to someone about it.

punch the fuck out of a punching bag for a few minutes when you get cravings.

smoking a pack a day for 4 years at least.

smoked 2 packs a day because i am straigh tup for a while.

in chi town. so it was like 20 $ a day.

then i stopped and for a few years tried to quit every 6 months.

every time i try to quit it is very easy. no withdrawal.

the only problem is i like taking a break from life to light a cigarette and relax and think about nothing.

so when i quit i have to live straight through life

chill. it is just a cig! smoke it and live on. a few years are nil!

anyway just fucking stop if you want and stop being a ponce!

i was going to suggest toothpicks. ive never needed to quit smoking but i went through a faze of trying to stop biting my nails in school and toothpicks worked well. sorts the oral fixation etc. i might give it another go actually.

But, this gets into the question of what you want out of life.

I've been sick of this "Cult Of Longevity" where "I have to live to fucking 150--respirators, dialysis, whatever, I'LL DO IT JUST MAKE ME LIVE!!!"

I've discussed this concept with some other WATMMers and I care fuck all about longevity because I don't have kids. If you haven't reproduced and don't owe your kids the responsibility of doing your damndest to stay alive, I say, "do what you feel" and then when the cancers and other chronic conditions roll in as a result, refuse any cocking chemo. or laser ablations or fucking cures worse than the disease, just say, "doc, a 2 liter of liquid morphine and I'll be on my way"!

But you can't get it like this because Medicare, health conglomerates and doctors all have a piece of the financial "keeping you alive" pie in their pocket and this concept is antithetical to their training and their orientation. But, remember what I said about Wal-Mart health care in America? Piss and moan enough and you'll get your way, guaranteed! :cisfor:

totally agree with this.

fuck being old and fucked, and fuck chemo and fuck it all.

i'm destined to get cancer or alzeimers or both or some other shit, fuck that i hope i die way before dementia kicks in (but maybe it already has) and if i get cancer, chemo can go fuck itself and die.

and fuck having kids, the world is already vastly overpopulated, and fuck people who are against abortion and contraception and euthanasia.

go fucking die of cancer and aids you cunts.

well it's been 13.5 hours now and i'm actually doing fine. like 4 hours ago i had a crazy intense craving and really bad mood swing and my roommate told me i looked like i just found out my dog died, but that passed and now i'm just sticking things in my mouth unconsciously. bought a bag of blow pops and some gum and really, with that stuff, i'm not really having problems.

it's pretty weird.

When I last stopped, 3 months, the first three days were horrible. Permanent cravings, eating every two hours. After three days, it gets easier although I slept like shit for the first two weeks. After 3 months, I thought I could reward myself with "just one cigarette". You know the end of the story.

Constantly eat small snacks! Really small, so that you don't get fed up to quickly

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.
