Holding businesses responsible for shit service

Recommended Posts

Anyone out there putting down a worker is extremely selfish -- especially if it's a job relating to the services sector (which is where the Western world is going towards, basically, a retail/tertiary based job arena).

Boring/repetitive jobs can be automated easily. Simply put, the money system stifles this progression - and the unfortunate reality is that you get people in society who moan about "bad" 'customer' service, when in fact that individual doesn't want to even be in that position, but they're forced to by the socio-economic system. When people demand customer service on a human level rather than dealing with technology, their causing selfishness to occur on their part as they're not taking into account the well being and interests of the worker/employee.

Trouble is, I've tried twice, and lost all motivation about halfway thru the semester... I then stopped doing my work, and failed all my classes. Nothing interests me enough to commit to years of schooling to get a degree in it.

How about not having a proper job to support your family when you get one?

op sounds like a real douche. i doubt he's as becoming and friendly to the staff of these places as he seems to think he is. people have bad days, and unfortunately when you work in a service industry, your bad day is on display for customers to see. that doesn't excuse someone being rude, sure, but there's absolutely no reason to go above an employee's head to a manager and potentially get them fired when you can simply walk out the door and not give the store your patronage.

Pro-tip: Most individuals would rather be in that shitty position than jobless.

Tone the emotion down a bit and do some research into the concepts. It's no good crying.

I detest those large, super-brightly lit 24-hour American convenience stores. The employees with phony robotic smiles and attitude made me realize I'd rather be told to fuck off. You must wonder about those who desire to do that job well and excel in a 'customer service' field. I almost understand the disgruntled employee more.

I'm currently trying to figure out what I'm gonna do with myself; I'm 21 and I hate college, and I work at one of those shit convenience stores... if I don't give the robotic smile, I lose my job. Believe me, I want to tell 90% of our customers, who are generally rude pricks (especially since in Kansas City, you have to pre-pay for your gas, you can't pump it and then pay... it really pisses people from out-of-town off. I had a pack of smokes thrown at me yesterday over it).

Because one girl was rude to one stickler-type customer, our entire staff got a write up/ formal warning (three and you're fired, regardless of how/why). I absolutely hate my job; my manager impulsively fires people she doesn't like or who fuck up once, and she is firing quicker than she is hiring. We've been understaffed for three months and we're all working six-or-seven day weeks for shit pay and still getting bitched out because we're 'not giving 100%.'

But I still give the fake, cheesy, easily-seen-through smile in the hopes that I can placate the next douchebag who comes through and tries to make a scene because we've run out of his Pall Mall 100 Menthols and keep my job.

i feel your pain ive been there. not everyone is ready for school at 21. give classes a rest a bit so you dont waste more money and look for another shit job that isnt quite as shitty as the one youre at.. do that until you can find a concrete direction

I'll have to buckle down and get it over with eventually, yeah... I'm just burnt out on education, I guess.

yeah like the above poster said...maybe take a year off or so. can you take the credits you have and combine them for like a year's work?

I'm just saying, it sucks going back to get your undergrad degree at 34/35.
