Did anyone else make "mixtures" as kids to see how foul you could get? Well, I shit you not, my buddy and I mixed coke with orange and lime juice and while looking like absolute shit, tasted almost exactly like Moutain Dew. Nowadays with the ingredient obsession (this was in the early 90's when everything could still be secretly poisonous) one of the chief ingredient of Mountain Dew is listed as, indeed, "concentrated orange juice" :cisfor:

we called em "suicides" as kids. all I know is that adding root beer to a mixture like that automatically ruined it.

I've always heard them called "Graveyards".

yeah, we called them suicides or tornadoes. Root beer did kinda mess those things up, however, the elusive "Dr. Slice" made them about 10x more awesome.

Basically, what you need to remember is that you usually only use the noun "effect", and the verb "affect".

For example: Every cause has an effect. What she did affects me even to this day.

The noun affect and the verb effect are unusual. An affect (noun) is like a property of something (sounds like you know that).

The verb "to effect" is almost never used. The only context I can think of where anyone would use it is "to effect change". This means to bring about change. But other than that one expression, you don't need to bother with that verb.

In conclusion, Dr. Pepper is pretty gross. I used to call it carbonated cough syrup, back when I knew people who drank it.

I don't know the flavors in it today... Would be interesting to see what used to be in it... I heard it was a very serious herbal health tonic back in the day. With something like 20 different fresh herbs mixed into naturally carbonated water... Would cure many aliments... :sorcerer:
