Really, really digging alot of this. The Slowdive, Mazzy Star and Bardo Pond are my favourites so far.

You guys have given me a lot of names to look into, and it's all top-notch. :aphexsign:

Jump on that Auburn Lull, seriously. It's the best music for late nights, when you are on the cusp of sleep.

check out sweet trip like someone mentioned (not really shoegaze though ey), i had only ever heard their free ep off that skylab sublabel, years ago, then forgot about it but there's some lush stuff that stood the test of time.

Very, very nice, as is that Sweet Trip.

Just bought these off Amazon for a grand total of like 30 bucks

So Tonight That I Might See-- Mazzy Star

The Blue Depths-- Odawas

Seconds-- Seely

Soulvaki-- Slowdive

Talking Voice Vs Singing Voice--Starflyer 59 (found this by accident years back, decided to finally purchase it-- it's beautiful psych rock, check it out)

Plan on buying some Sweet Trip and more Slowdive when I have more cash. That stuff is ace.

This album came out when i was like five. My dad would play it to put me to sleep. Blue Light and Mary of Silence are my oldest musical memories, actually. This album never fails in calming me down.

There was a thread like this a while back which had some good recommendations, although it might have been lost in the last WATMM overhaul. So in that case:

Pale Saints

Kitchens of Distinction

Lush

A.R. Kane

Not sure if they were ever called 'shoegaze' at the time but I suppose they could fit in with a lot of that stuff.

Also, why does noone ever mention the first Slowdive album?

Écailles de Lune is just beautiful, one of the best albums of 2010

I've been meaning to look into them... Someone was praising them up to me a few weeks ago. And seconding Écailles de Lune, I was blasting that album in my car yesterday.

Interestingly enough, I have an Asobi Sexu Cd somewhere... and I've treid to get into M83, but a lot of it drives me up the wall, with the exception of 'Dead Cities...'

Asobi Seksu's great stuff... I kinda hear what your saying about M83, I only really listen to them in small infrequent doses, but I do like the first 2 albums. I haven't looked into the newer stuff at all

Yeah... I usually listen to the first couple tracks, then shut it off.. idunno, the guitar/synthy thing they have going on is just really really irritating after a while.

Before The Dawn Heals Us is my favorite. I like Digital Shades Vol. 1 as well.

As for shoegaze/nu gaze:

Airiel - The winks and kisses EPs

Astrobrite - Crush

Once Dreamt - Drifting

Bethany Curve

The Daysleepers

Also, go to last.fm and type in shoegaze in the radio player.

If you are really new to shoegaze, don't screw around with the minor bands right away. You need a healthy dose of the OG 90's stuff.

A Storm In Heaven - THE VERVE (no one mentioned this?!, put it on & find a hot girl to make-out with)

Souvlaki - SLOWDIVE

Loveless - MBV

Lazer Guided Melodies - SPIRITUALIZED

Gala - LUSH

Whirlpool - CHAPTERHOUSE

Heaven or Las Vegas - COCTEAU TWINS

There's tons more too, but this is a good starting list.

Someone mentioned Astrobrite as being NuGaze - they are actually quite old. I would see them play all the time back in the day, when they had Odell on drums - I still have one of their cassettes, & a 7". This brings to mind Majesty Crush - Love15 is a beautiful album that almost made it big.
