cpp, i watched a man with HIV rip out a wig that had been stapled to his head, splatter blood all over glass sheets, fist himself repeatadly while covered in goat lard and then scream incoherently about gay rights before the lights going out and it ending a few months back. was fucking weird.

Exactly. Avant garde performance art can actually be dangerous and thrilling.

These kids are just playing artist, and it seems that most think that cutting her tights and smearing dogfood up her snizz isn't a cliche, but actually something worthwhile.

But then it's hipsters, so...

I'm doing an internship at a local (but internationally famous) art gallery/private collection at the moment. The thing is quite big and cooperates with the MoMa, Guggenheim etc. There's often performances held there on Saturdays. Some of which are kinda like that vid ... The last guy I saw was a total weirdo, or at least that's what he wanted to be. He had a big freezer room filled with these sculptures, like a wooden construction with frozen pizzas spinning on it or a shoe with a spoon nailed to it frozen in an ice block. Then he'd wear a fire protection suit and talk some gibberish about the pizzas being the result "of the farmers who were suffering from migraine attacks as the Siamese twins forgot to switch off the centrifuge which resulted in an implosion of the hollow inner self which ... " etc - yeah ... the sculptures were kinda cool by itself (not to mention that I double-cooked all 150 liters of distilled water in order to make the ice look clear, using two hand-held water cookers ... seven hours of fun, yay) but with this talk ... jeez. And he's internationally famous and wins prices etc. I call art-market-shenanigans.

Jesus Christ who takes two fucking minutes to open a can? (trust fund hipsters)

My impulse is to say that some well placed plastic explosives could have solved that whole mess, but bad performance art has been around for decades and will continue as long as weirdos live in a vacuum and pretend that what they are doing is completely original and shocking.

lols at all the posters in past hipster threads who didn't think true full on hipster's like this are epic facepalm retarded. This stupid shit proves that defending real hipsters is a guilty by association shot on sight crime.

The problem is real folks and if you don't admit its a fucking stupid your apart of douche-y embarrassing insult on modern humanity.

Here's my issue: I spent most of my young life in art schools (6th grade through college) and usually the more hipster/weirdo dressed kids were fucking art school posers who did this kind of shit. From my experience, the good artists weren't concerned about how they dressed and focused mostly on their art; and they dressed like regular people.

me too, and you're right in my experience too... but looking at that crowd i don't see anything too abnormal. maybe 1 or 2 people expressing themselves through their appearance, most look fairly run of the mill student types.

Actually, upon a second (equally painful) viewing you are right. Most look pretty normal. I think my mind was clouded by the performance.

I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.
