Don't do it. expalin to a noob what a cd image is:$ A single file rip of your CD. You have to mount the cue for single file images to get the full tracklist. The content is exactly the same as with track files, but tag metadata gets saved in the cue instead of files, and as such offers less tagging options because cues can't handle every custom tag out there. You can't twiddle with separate track files either, naturally. 40days
How can you even break a CD drive with any software? Sounds rubbish to me. azatoth
If you put in a slightly scratched CD and EAC is in its most paranoid setting, it would keep spinning that CD until it got it right. I could definitely see it break a shoddier drive. No it definitely is possible as azatoth says - when getting EAC to detect gaps you hear the drive stopper motor going a bit mental for a few seconds. So it obviously does wear the drive more than standard use, but then not so much that people need to be wary of.
