how do you properly

just because the speaker cone/diaphragm vibrates does not mean it is a moving part. this is why I get annoyed with audiophiles (especially bandwagon audiophiles) - they often have no idea of the basic concepts of mechanics, manufacturing processes, or indeed common logic and sorry, often talk so much utter nonsense it's just funny. the bad part is that a lot of people listen to it and take it as gospel.

so you think its completely and utterly impossible that the diaphragm could loosen up in the slightest from pushing decibels, slowly massaging the cone to sound less ridged? Even if spectral difference is a half a decibel on certain frequencies the tonality sure does seem quite feasible to slightly change.

I swear on my bastard of a grandsons aborted fetus that after time rock/metal albums with really distorted guitars and bass sounded nearly disappointingly harsh to my anal retentive ears on both of my hd280s before lots of use. Swear on my left nipple that now the tonality of distorted tones sound much less abrasive on these cans. Not just trying to buy into audiophile wise tails.

Even if I was a millionaire you wont see me buying 3 thousand dollar power cables for my tube headphone preamp. Wont be buying stones from Nicaragua to set next to my studio monitors either.

I personally and honestly feel it made a difference with my cans no doubt.

ridiculous audiophile nonsense.

lol kneejerk reaction to a subject i have no knowledge about....what the fuck...i have no idea what i'm talking about yet i'm still gonna have an opinion that is diametrically opposed to what is actually the case.

ridiculous clueless nonsense.

:trashbear:

hhaha Oscillik this made me laugh.

on the subject, lol @ monster cables

... i'm sure someone notices a difference.

Man burning in is probably just getting used to them yourself, I know it took a while for me to get adjusted to good earphones when I finally got them..

'Burning in' speakers and headphones is pretty well documented. There is some scepticism, but nothing on the same scale as that reserved for the audiophile bollocks about cables etc. Personally, I believe it. It will vary between products, but both my Sony 7509s(originals) and MA B2s speakers needed a few weeks.

Edit: And in answer to the original question, just use them. That way if it is bollocks you haven't wasted your time.

That's just not good enough. Lube Saibot has accused me of being quixotic towards him. I had to look it up. That's raising the fucking bar. A fuck you kakapo doesn't mean shit anymore.

my style is impetuous; my defense is impregnable

It's psychological i reckon, there's no evidence for it... or if there is i've never seen it. Just make sure they're powered correctly, get the ohms right. If they're under powered they won't recreate the sounds as they were 'meant to', but might still sound ok to your preference.

Its very much based on fact, but I don't think its a concern for most speakers/phones these days. The burn-in process doesn't really apply to most modern speaker/phone designs because for one the surrounds are already pretty much as flexible as they get (not true for older speakers, but older speakers would have already played a lot of music anyway!). And for two, the most important burn in process is aligning the coil, web and cone with each other. However this is usually done in the factory before the glue sets (when it is very easy as the glue is still 'wet'), if it wasn't then lining via burning in would help, but I'd be surprised if any speaker/phone company didn't do this as standard these days.

No doubt a little settling in occurs after the speakers ship and are used for the first time, but the difference will be TINY.

tried to edit but it wouldn't let me...

the difference would be REALLY tiny, I'd be surprised if anyone could hear it. It takes a couple of seconds to align in the factory so if any company didn't do it I'd be really surprised.

I think you're right man, it really sounds like a lot of nonsense.
