I have only heard Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock, but I enjoy both of those quite a lot. I also dig Bark Psychosis' Hex. Did you know Bark Psychosis was founded as a Napalm Death tribute band?

well if you owned the record you'd notice there's a lyric sheet :emotawesomepm9:

although, his handwriting is even harder to make out (and that's from a small, messy handwriting expert)

i once picked up an absolute treasure trove of talk talk in a charity shop for two quid apiece; the original cassette releases of colour of spring, spirit of eden, and laughing stock; original release meaning SoE and LS had lyrics in the inlay in mark's scrawly writing.

Spirit of Eden & Laughing Stock are the only two albums I need in my life.

Mark Hollis - The Colour of Spring is pristine as well.

Agreed, the Bark Psychosis albums Hex and Codename: Dustsucker are kindred spirits, and I enjoy them very much.

Hah, I was waiting for you to find this thread!

Has anyone checked out the .O.Rang stuff yet? I picked up a copy of Fields And Waves on vinyl last year and it's amazing! Looking into getting the first album and EP too.

I meant to say... the Mark Hollis Self-Titled album, along with Talk Talk's The Colour Of Spring are pristine as well. Sorry for the poor grammar.

Haven't heard the .O.rang material. Worth seeking out?

Definitely. It's the same aesthetic as the late Talk Talk stuff, but more psychedelic and with more world music elements. The first album (Herd of Instinct) was apparently entirely improvised and then edited into songs. The second (Fields and Waves) sounds a bit more structured but is better, imo.

there will be lp reissues of laughing stock and mark hollis solo album,... apparently

I've seen a bootleg pressing of laughing stock, i was very tempted to buy it. An official reissue would be amazing though, considering how much they go for on discogs..

For so many years I have heard about the album Spirit of Eden. I just nicked it off the internet, so we shall finally see what the fuss is all about. If it's kosher I'll get the original.

I played a bit of this at work today, I was busy so couldn't really concentrate as much as I should of, but I was pleasently suprised.

It seemed to me on first impressions of the first few tracks that this is where U2 nicked all their ideas from the Joshua Tree from. I especially seemed to hear a lot of the song Running to Stand Still. Mmmmm I have to say I wasn't expecting much but defo looking forward to a replay which is always a good sign.
