i just watched buckaroo banzai and thoroughly enjoyed it but i'm not entirely sure why, it has lots of huge problems but i loved it. the cast is phenomenal as well. it sort of reminded me of repo man and they both came out months apart.

i'd agree with this, i think.

saw it few months back at cinema where they played They Live and Videodrome. i hadn't seen either at the time. i wasn't sure if videodrome was super boring, or if it was just super boring after the ridiculous high that was They Live (ohmygod, they live is amazing) but we found ourselves sinking into the chairs and getting slightly bored during videodrome.

Ghost in the Shell, both the movie and series.

It's not really oldskool, per se, but still a kick ass sci-fi.

they live is superb, videodrome would be a real snooze fest after it.
