As far as I'm concerned Duke Nukem forever already lived up to the name, it's been in production forever and it is an achievement in its own concept.

They should release a version where every level is a different iteration of the engine - So level one is all Quake II powered, running through to the Unreal engines, Doom 3 etc. etc. until whatever mess of a hybrid engine it is today ...

I loved Duke Nukem 3d. I still think its one of the best action 3d games of ever. On the same topic it's hard for Duke Nukem forever to reach its greatness.

Prey by 3DRealms had a similar development history. announced in 1995 then outsourced to a 3rd party developer, still it was an innovative game despite the 11 years of delay

depends on the competency of the developer. Prey was handed over to Human Head Studios. DukeNukem Forever now has Gearbox Software that was behind Brothers in Arms and Borderlands? haven't played the former but I've seen positive reviews

i'll believe it when i see it on store shelves. there have been so many trailers videos demos hell that fuck jace hall even went to 3drealms to play it for an episode of his transcendental internet tv show.

i'm calling them cunts because they knew about the delay at least a week ago, as has been proved by the creation date of the new wallpaper showing the updated release date.

in all likelihood, they actually knew that they couldn't meet the May release back in January. if they had announced back then that they wouldn't be able to make the release, i wouldn't have minded so much. but to only make the announcement now, so close to the supposed release date, it's bullshit. also, considering the already ridiculous dev time on this game, i think that a little transparency on the reason why they've delayed wouldn't go amiss. but they won't even give that.

so, yes. Gearbox are cunts. cunts for not announcing the delay sooner.

Would you rather play a buggy game and have your first impression destroyed by bugs or wait another month and play something that's less buggy? Actually, you should be glad that they respect their customers enough to hold back a product that a lot of people is looking forward to so they don't have to deal with glitches, bugs, and so on.
