Hotmail just deleted all my emails

Yeah I know what the first post is going to be - "why do you still use hotmail?!" I use gmail too, it's just so many people used my hotmail I continued using it.

As of yesterday I had:

7161 messages in my inbox, 69 messages in my junk mail, 22 messages in my drafts, 96 photos, 15 office docs, 8 shipping updates (how do I know? because last night I left a hotmail window open on my laptop; I refreshed it and everything was gone). A custom folder, My_Sent_Messages,and a bunch of contacts.

Today everything was gone, apart from one contact (strangely).

I know, worst thread ever, but seriously - FUCK YOU MICROSOFT!

i hope they don't do that to me. the fuckers. i use hotmail as well.

it's not the first time i see someone who got all the email deleted, it's a very stupid situation. what they are doing is an anti-service.

Not to mention I had tons of LEGAL ADVICE in there (emails from my lawyer) that I paid a lot of good money for. FUCK MS!

I thought they were supposed to have triple-quadruple backups for their servers and stuff...boy was I a fool.

sorry to say it, but, why are you still using hotmail?

you have a gmail account..are your contacts really that retarded that they can't change your contact details to reflect the new address?

does hotmail still not allow POP access? if it does, you could've set up gmail to pull your emails from hotmail (for those stubborn contacts, or sites that you can't remember the login details for)

seriously. get rid of hotmail. it's shite, and always has been.

do they have any kind of backup? i never tried to know hotmail a bit deeper, although i have been using it since i use email.

it's too strange that suddenly all one person's messages simply disappear, when we are talking about a company like microsoft.

yeah it's all academic now, as there is no info to pull over to the other account. Unless the techs magically manage to restore it.

The funny thing is my account was completely wiped, except for one contact.

edit: I completely agree Ruiagnelo. I suggest you forward all of your emails to some other account just in case.

ya hotmail is a piece of shit

ive been getting 3 problems last couple weeks, every time i open hotmail i get the fucking code i have to type in "to help them prevent spam" and then i sign in and i get a script error every 30 seconds, and when i go to my inbox i discover that microsoft has sent me 30+ spam emails called 'post delivery failure' notificiations, showing me that spam has been blocked from my junk bin... so yea thats great just put it all in my fucking inbox why dont you, idiots....

swapped to gmail but its a pain in the ass changing my email addresses on all my sites.

i have over 10 000 emails in my inbox. don't fuck me over.

mine's been wiped a few times, but i think it was from inactivity and because i just use hotmail for signing up for things that i'll never revisit.

if gmail ever did that to me, i'd die. i have so much important info in my email. nothing as expensive as legal advice, but still...

I only ever use it these days for signing up to sites/forums/porn.

My inbox has been flooded with thousands of these. I think it's when the spambots use your email as the return address. I had close to a thousnad of them in there at one point. Cleared them all out, logged in a month or two later, another thousand had appeared.

as far as i know, has only recently enabled POP3 access. still doesn't do IMAP (at least not for free).

no fancy routing features.

you have spyware.

Call Microsoft about it. Most likely they will be able to find a backup and fix your account. You've made them too much money from ad impressions to let them just wipe your account.

You can't call them. They specifically say they don't answer calls about hotmail.

Lumpy that sucks man, hotmail is indeed shit. The only reason I continue to use it for the same reason, that so many people use that as my main contact, especially for work, and have done for years that to change it would be such a fucking hassle.

Anyway, I forgot to make a last post yesterday. I've never made a last post before, so this is it.
