Kaini fucks up another thread. well done, when is this twat going to get banned?

if you have a problem with me, why not take it up with me rather than continuing to veer the thread off-topic?

peace out.

this sounds like an airplane landing on a minefield

Is pretty good..but definitely felt like lone could've done more with this. Was kind of expecting a different direction after E&E. However, like many others here, it's still holds fairly good and up to his standards.

Kaini has got his shit so straight it is going in circles. what is a varius?

there is really nothing especially creative or innovative in this record's sound, but i really like it.

sounds good and feels good.

That's kind of how I feel about it. I can't really pinpoint why yet, but it's awesome.

The musical equivalent to the taste of an Apple Jolly Rancher.

big feature in this months XLR8R. Read the whole issue for FREE

nice!

i discovered Lone with Emerald Fantasy Tracks and got in love! i was kind of afraid of going through his old catalogue, as i read it was heavily hip-hop based, but then tried Lemurian and i love it. You can always feel Lone in all these differents styles and i really find it interesting that he wants to change as much as possible. He references and even compares himself with Aphex Twin as an inspiration in terms of trying different styles and i think it is fairly appropriate. also i agree when he says EFT kinda works as a minialbum and not a full lenght LP.

really looking forward to hear Lone's next sonic adventures!

Well said, ruiagnelo. EFT was my first exposure as well and sharing similar concerns about his previous work, I will definitely check out Lemurian next!

Listening to Emerald is like a minty mouthwash... for my ears. A great palate cleanser when I start feeling fatigued after a long run of listening to the same style or album.

yes, and there is a great thing about EFT: while it is clearly influenced by rave and acid house sounds, it is really distinguishable and unique. i believe i might be able to recognize Lone when i hear it, from now on. but i might be wrong. anyway, its so uplifting!

edit: i said EFT, but his most recents EPs really follow the same rave/acid house inspiration too

'Everything's Changing Colour' is a very different album again. Quite a mix of tempos and styles. I'd be doing it an injustice to lazily compare it to B*C and Clark, but that's the easiest way I can find to give some idea of what it sounds like - it's a great album in its own right and every bit as Loneish as what followed. Never seems to get much of a mention, I wonder if it was just a bunch of old tracks compiled together rather than a more conventionally crafted album? Whatever, I love it, and anyone who hasn't already done so should check it out.

could anyone point a brah to where someone from the u.s. can get a physical copy w/o paying out the ).)

?

I bought it at amazon because I had a gift card. With free shipping I think the total was $16.

Thanks mang, as irony would have it I have one in the post coming to me from Germany. :sup:

Anyway it's a damn fine record and for as much as I liked E&F I can appreciate how he's going in interesting directions while still retaining and building up a distinctive sound (Caribou & Four Tet are good at this too).

It's easy to recognize lone using 3 factors usually. 1: Parallel chords- he samples his synth playing a maj7 chord and then pitches it up on different pads. 2: He has about 3 presets that he uses for melody on just about every song, all are just different variations of a sawtooth wave with some release, sometimes with attack. 3: He is the master of side chain compression, but this applies mainly to cluster dreams onward, and wanes a little on EFT.

If you like Lone, check these as well, if you don't already know:

on ECC Lone didn't put any limits on his tracks. I think you are right about the compilation rather than the album being composed from 1 concept. The most Loneish track on there is "summer of summer," probably one of lone's best tracks period.

His best album as far as achieving a concept perfectly is E&E, and probably my favorite of his work. "Sungrazer Cascade" is one of my favorite songs of all time.

My favorite off of EFT is "ultramarine," because of that bit that comes in in the middle, super euphoric.

This is my least favorite album of his, but it's still very good. Feel like his singles in this style were better than any of the album tracks.

As for Everything Is Changing Colour, that was the first time I heard his music. Absolutely love that record. I like how it seamlessly shifts from IDM to hip-hop over the course of the record.

While we've got a recently bumped Lone thread, in case anyone missed it there's a decent Lone track on this. Sorry if jazz, I might have even found out about this EP here but I honestly can't remember.

EDIT: Just got to say, for me the second half of Proper Vivid from EICC is my favourite Lone moment EVER.
