so how do you flood an area? do you just keep adding water springs until the water level rises or am i missing something? i managed to dig out under a lake but it just made a waterfall and didn't fill the area below it (a giant cave)

i basically want to flood an entire area and have an enclosed glass walkway through the middle of the water.

you can unflood your tunnel by adding and removing dirt inside it

and you can make a small 2x2 pool to make a water-spawner, then remove the walls of it

seeing as water can't exist there (except if you bring ice with you), if you're on fire... you're in trouble.

i'm not sure that would work, since a block needs (at least) 2 source neighbor blocks to become a source.

for a rectangular pool, i think guess filling 2 adjacent sides with water sources should make it a completely source pool.

or even filling every second block of the 2 adjacent sides. i think that would be the minimum.

so that would mean: for a given m*n rectangular pool, a minimum of (m+n)/2 sources (water buckets) is needed.

now somebody test this!

I started playing today for about 2 hours. I'm on peaceful (but no cheats/editors) until I get this shit figgered out a bit more, but it's fun so far. Exploring caves is neato once I found out how to make torches. I'm wondering how long this will hold my attention. It was oddly satisfying to set myself up in a little stone hut with a glass roof, simple as it was.

my hollowed out mountain is a mess. i'll fix it if i can be bothered. also i mined a whole ton of redstone but have got no idea what i should use it for. i'm not smart/patient enough to make circuits with it even though it looks like fun.

i used a utility to locate all dungeons anywhere near so i could mine enough mossy cobblestone for this:

not only could i have used an inventory editor cos, well, i was cheating anyway... mossy cobblestone is COMPLETELY useless.

tested, my method works. and if sides are odd number sized, you can round the division down. so for that 7*9 pool in the youtube vid, you only need 3 + 4 = 7 buckets.

another alternative is to fill the diagonal of the pool, but that obviously only works with square pools.
