Guest theSun
i like it better. MOT is definitely less fluid and consistent, but overall i think the tunes are just better. maybe it's just my sporadic mood lately? sup watmm Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/60053-mot-ovstpsspsp/ Share on other sites

Guest neirdac
I actually feel the opposite. I love Oversteps but I don't seem to be able to get into MoT. I don't know I just think most of the songs are going nowhere. I've seen Etcoghon-S being compared to LCC wtf? ok there are similarities but the beginning of LCC is justified by what follows it and that's why it becomes awesome. Etcoghon stays the same and isn't even close to the beginning of Lcc. Also to me Treale, os veix3 and pt2ph8 are absolutely not in the same league as most of MoT.Whatever maybe I'm not feeling sporadic enough. Nth dafuseder.b is seriously awesome though Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/60053-mot-ovstpsspsp/#findComment-1424783 Share on other sites
Guest theSun
it's not that ovstteepppaas has too little beats, just that the songs are more drone-y. perhaps compare the long evolving tracks of qrristicicice to the more progression based ones. altho i guess i'm a total asshole cause listening to y7 and it's just layered awesomeness. i think sporadic is the best way to describe the feel of MOTOTOTOT, i just like how it feels more uncomfortable than ovvvestovesteoepovtsss Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/60053-mot-ovstpsspsp/#findComment-1424818 Share on other sites
markedone
I still love oversteps more; to me its like comparing a large-scale canvas painting to some cool sketches the 'chre did. Some of those sketches are really developed and badass (y7) but others are more rough (pce freeze 28i). Both albums are awesome, but I happen to be into the lush fully-developed pieces like treale, redfall, and krYlon right now. M62 is the exception of the bunch, that my be my favorite track off either album Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/60053-mot-ovstpsspsp/#findComment-1425626 Share on other sites

splesh
To me, Etchogon-S is like a really spastic crossover between the Quaristice and Oversteps sound palettes. In other words, awesome. digit
Etchogon-S made more sense to me after hearing that 'moustache' album by mr. oizo, but i still think the production on it (etchogon) is too clean & sharp sounding. a lo-fi aesthetic would suit that song better. Boxus
i don't get why everyone is so crazy about M62. it's one of my least favorites, it just sounds lazy to me. but i love move of ten. oversteps is better as an album, but move of ten is more addictive, more fun. I also appreciate them doing something squarely in the midrange like the early days whereas for the longest time, they've had a "sharp" sound with shit coming at you from everywhere between 1-30 kHz. I've mentioned it before but I'm quite sure this is dedicated to how much Detroit influenced them. It could sit comfortably in any Stingray set. Guest theSun
it's a little bit reminiscent of 4 day interval by tortoise imo also nine both those tracks i tap my feet to just like the bass kicks, but it's just easier to hear everything without kicks. and i can just imagine the kicks anyways if i really miss them. not saying m62 would be superior without the kicks, just saying i want to hear it without, and maybe some pads instead. Guest Calx Sherbet
haven't heard MOT since the week it came out. just listened to it last night, and liked it even more. i'd say it's better than oversteps, but a very different feeling overall. so many good vibes on MOT, especially Cep puiqMX, and ylm0. ylm0 itself sounds like a resurrected Yulquen. Cep puiqMX makes me visualise all these wide angle shots of spaceships from the Star Wars movies i really love the very first note of Etchogon-S Edited December 6, 2010 by Calx Sherbet Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/60053-mot-ovstpsspsp/#findComment-1470216 Share on other sites
