i listen to move of ten more than oversteps, but mostly because oversteps is more of a complete masterpiece where move of ten can be enjoyed a few tracks at a time.

clearly though, these two releases show that autechre are very much at the top of their game. they've become so good at surprising the fuck out of us with each new release, but always retaining that autechre 'feel'. i can't wait to hear what the future holds - more advanced physical modeling stuff? i'd love to hear a mixture of say, confield/draft era percussion and the mind melting synth melodies of oversteps.

After another listen today to Oversteps, I'm tempted to agree with this.

Listened to these through all the way for the first time in a few months. It was nice hearing them with fresh ears, I overplayed both of these a lot when I first bought them and got a little sick of them.

Move Of Ten is more accessible. After I got burnt out on Oversteps I initially liked it more for a bit. However, now that I've had some time, Oversteps is definitely the better album in my opinion. It's a really cohesive whole and a brave new direction for them. It's my favorite release of theirs since Confield and I can't wait to hear their next outing.

st epreo came on the other day and I was extremely pleased.

st epreo is one of my favs of Oversteps. The way it hits after the cripplingly creepy ending of d sho qub is fucking wicked.

The ending of d s ho qub is like tentatively moving closer towards something dangerous, ominous but at the same time intrigueing, then ... bam! st epreo hits, you've gotten too close and something has jumped from the shadows of d sho qubs ending and its covering your skin, suffocating you and making your eyes roll around in your head.

i like the way it ends on the vinyl version, just an abrupt stop

By the way, the most I listen to the album, the less I listen to the Ep.

Has anyone tried combining tracks from Oversteps with tracks from Move of Ten?

Kind of like a puzzle, omitting here, adding there, until you have a perfect albeit personal choice of tracks put together.

I've been trying but not come up with perfection yet

I noticed on various threads people mentioning different connections between these two releases. Maybe Autechre want us to put together our own album?
