Rubicon was such a fucking good show!

The general audience is dumb and has the attention of a goldfish. No wonder Rubicon didn't get the audience.

Tis said but true, I was honestly surprised when Rubicon made it a full season for many reasons.

This had, I believe, the highest debut numbers in AMC history, but the ratings tanked when nothing had "happened" by the third episode, and the ratings didn't recover.

I liked the show, but this was entirely expected and I can't really fault AMC for making the decision. The people who liked the show really seemed to like the show, but there weren't a lot of us; there also seemed to be a bit of uncertainty from the show runners with respect to an overall series vision--and that might have shaken AMC's resolve a bit (compare that to a show runner like Vince Gilligan--even if Breaking Bad had shitty numbers it's easy to put some faith in the artistic vision behind that show as kind of a prestige piece for the channel).

But fuck all if I know people and mass-tv-watcher-psychology; Mad Men draws the crowds but it's slow as fuck and not half as clever as it thinks it is. Or maybe half-clever-and-obvious-about-it is what passes for clever on TV? Or is it just the bewbs? It's probably just the bewbs.

I don't like Mad Men....

nothing about the series interests me except the tits....

and tits go a long way with me....

but not as far as to watch a bunch of egomaniacal men drink, smoke cigs, and talk about advertising and infidelity.....
