Whoa, glad I finally noticed this thread.  Lots to dig into.  Also, is there anything that differentiates "Synthwave" from synth-pop, aside from the year it was created?

I released a synth-pop inspired album in August, or more accurately an Oberheim Matrix 6 inspired album (keyboard I was messing about on at the time):
