i love to call people fools all day long... there are surely more verbose insults that top it but for your go-to immediate slam "fool" sells like hotcakes

In slovenia we have a word "budala" or "budalo" that means something like jerk or fool. I like to use it, because not many people do as it's a bit old-fashioned and nobody takes it seriously except when I say it sometimes strikes quite hard.

As far as quick and snappy ones go, I like to use "cunt" for guys, "asshole" or "dick" for girls. I dunno, there's something about genitalia-'n'-friends slang that does it for me.

I think "cocksucker" ranks far above fool's degree of insultry.
