Root5
Okay, so I'm pretty sure that Cryptic Motion is about the Secret Doctrine, a theory attributed to Protagoras in Plato's Theaetetus dialogue. So here's my incredibly nerdy interpretation that Squarepusher wrote this song about ancient Greek philosophy. The Secret Doctrine is the theory that all perceptible objects are created by two opposing movements, an active movement in the world and an a passive movement in our sense organs. So hence the line: "moves fall forevermore/where there's nothing but incessant motion". But though this theory can explain perceptible objects, it can't explain what the movements are. This is because, we cannot perceive them, only what is produced from observing them. Hence the line: "there is something that cannot be proven". This theory claims that everything we perceive is just a perception from our perspectives, and not actually reality, which is composed only of movements. Hence the line: "this journey/playing off look and feel" (although I'm not sure "look and feel" is the line, because it sounds like there's an extra syllable in there). And finally this theory claims that though you can't know about reality, you have irrefutable knowledge of the perceptions that the movements create. Hence: "here is something that can't be denied you".
