Just for reference I asked the Guardian newspaper if I could use one of their aerial photos of the London Olympic site, at A3 size for my student end of year show. I seem to remember they asked about £200 just for that one image to be shown one time. They reduced it to about £100 when I played the poor student card.

 

....to be fair they did need a helicopter to take it.

yep, it's aboot the scale...

 

if it's a small independent release with a limited run, then...

let them use it for free, but retain the rights to the image for any further personal usage.

just insist that your contact details are included in the liner notes.

 

on the other hand, if it's coldplay, then...

a swimming pool full of euros and start backstroking like your scrooge mcduck.
