IMO I think Mogwai have done their sound. Unless this album rips up the template then I doubt I will be interested. When you have a couple of their albums you have them all, type scenario.

it's growing, definitely. stronger than the last two albums anyway.

At this point I still find Mr Beast to be a stronger record but this one has as much variety so if I can get over how incredible Glasgow Mega Snake and We No Here are then maybe I'll come around to feelin like you do... But yes, far better than Hawk. That one just felt like too much of a rehash

"Hardcore" is a world away from Mogwai Fear Satan and CODY. I get your point to some extent, but their sound has evolved steadily across their LPs and my guess is there's only so far they can really stretch an instrumental rock band with 2/3 guitarists.

I'm a big fan of Happy Songs for Happy People. After that and a few tracks off Mr Beast I began to yawn. Blur are better (just kidding!).

It's all very nice and beautiful, a good "mogwai package with a fancy box and bow" but where's the fucking RAW energy out of it?

Too much touring perhaps?

read in the skinny mag, the title comes from a glasgow ned overheard in a shop.

ha, in that case the title is brilliant.

apparently the ned was being refused alcohol, so he said it to the shopkeeper.

Trust me, after 3-4 listenings you'll forget all about the album and go back to their older stuff.

Yeah, I listened to this about three times and I haven't really had the urge to pick it up again. I do like those guys though, this just feels a little uninspired.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.
